Do you know much of the history of these photo's.
In the last photo, the bloke with the glasses and white overalls is my father in law. I sent him a link to this site and he just called and gave us the run down of the photos. At the time these photos were taken he was the workshop manager.

It looks like you have a fair bit of rebuilding work to do. But you have definitely started about things in the right way. Blasting back to nothing and starting from scratch is the only way to go to do the job properly.

If anyone can help I'm looking for a gear shifter for an M20/M21 must be the twin stick job (separate stick for lock out reverse) I think speco and a couple of others made them.
