More then likely you are right Stinky - the car is heading to the North West to Broom via Perth.

An additional expense of $1,800 for the buyer.

Also the Number Plates will be of no use once it is in WA.

That's the advantage of an auction - you can get more than you thought.
It also goes the other way....
I always start any item that I sell on eBay at the price I want with no reserve, hence no disappointment for me and no stuffing the buyer around wondering what the reserve is and if it does not sell then maybe I was asking too much   Smiley

Thanks Janette

I was hoping to get around the 4K mark so I was extremely pleased with the out come.

Had the last drive today when I took it to Toll to be transported to the North of Western Australia.

I think I will miss her, but she is way overdue for a revamp.

Does anyone know anything about the red and white FC in NSW - now on ebay Auction?

Any knowledge of history or condition would be appreciated.

John

John

I have owned the FC for 7 years - replaced speedo - done 1350 miles in that time.  One trip was 250 miles, also done around 10 trips of 50 miles and the remainder was within this town.

The tyres were replaced 2 regos ago.  I was going to do her up, but I am still working on my FB.

With the sill starting to rust the resto is way overdue, but I really do not have the time or finances at present.

PM me if you want specific details or more photos.

I assume it is original cause it looks old - see fading on roof.
Also the inside colour matches outside.
The paint was old looking when I got it so assume it was never done up.

As far as ID Plate it was there when I bought it so I don't see why anyone would change it.  Huh

Seeming your ID plate produces the same result, the look up data might be wrong?

Dave

I have.  I borrowed one from an old retired mechanic.  He had a round disk ( around 4mm thick) as part of the set, said it stopped the point digging into the crank and spreading it.

9  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: HR Front End on: April 27, 2006, 10:25:02 AM
Looks as though the floor hump has been replaced with a larger version - no floor cover panel over the transmission. The hole for the gear stick seems too far back for a standard 3 speed looks as if it would be under the bench seat (if it had one).

I'm starting to think this is an abandoned project and no motor has been fitted to the replaced front end - tell tale signs include a very bodggy brake set up  - rubber hose between the master cylinder hooked onto the old brake line, no reinforcement around the gear shifter hole.

Anyway we still reckon it is a good starting point - we will lift the engine back out this weekend (could not be bothered yesterday so put a brick across the front end to keep it off the steering and pushed her back into the shed - first slant red I've seen Grin ) and start from scratch. Mount a bare block with the gearbox and then set up a custom X-member as predicted by Glenn.

I'll take some pics and then ask heaps more questions.

12  Technical Board / Modification Help / HR Front End on: April 26, 2006, 08:42:16 AM
Help Huh

We started to put a 202 into our FC no2 which I purchased with a HR front end and HR steering fitted - hole cut in floor for gear change. The motor gearbox had been removed.

And that's where it stopped.   Huh Huh Huh

The motor and 3 speed box came out of a HQ

Problem 1 - The sump rests on the steering hence can't lower the motor into the mounts - what is the correct sump?

Problem 2 - The gear box mount sits further back then the x member fitted - any idea as to what type of box was originally fitted (5 speed celica/supra maybe?)

Thanks for any help

Thanks Glenn - cool car  Cheesy

What size tyres are you running on the wagon?

I've searched this site for info, but couldn't find what I was looking for , so hence another new thread....

I scored a set of 13x8 mags off ebay and they rub on the upper 'A' arm. This supprised me as the FC I had back in the 70’s had the same size/type of mags. Then I remembered that old number 1 had a 186 motor (HR front end  Roll Eyes ).

I know I can solve the rubbing issue with longer wheel studs and spacers but I prefer the wheel to sit against the drums.

So the question is what is the maximum width of a 13" mag wheel that can be fitted to a standard front end without interference to the upper 'A' arm Huh

Thanks for any help
16  General / General Board / Re: Price Advice FC wagon on: February 08, 2006, 12:35:08 PM
I agree with Hammer.  Start at $2000 and point out the cost of rubber kit, tyres and interior refurbishment and anything else that looks like it needs attention Grin . You can always go up in your offer.

If you offer 4K and he jumps at it you will wonder what was his price  Huh Huh
17  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Anyone in Qld a good painter? Private job? on: February 07, 2006, 10:02:45 PM
Hi Andrew

Yep I agree with Glenn, have a go yourself - it's not too hard.

The cost of air compressors and spray guns are getting cheaper (should be less than $500) and you will still have the equipment for future projects.

Nick

The FB filler neck is longer - however it is only soldered into the tank.
It can be replaced with a Fe FC version, just take the proper precautions before applying heat (flame) to the tank.

Jonno

I put one on my HZ daily driver when the old one packed it in - no problems with the standard stromberg fitted to the 202.

Check the inlet valve on your carby there could have been some dirt in the outlet side of the pump.
