Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Re: Fc Grill rechroming

Hi Laszlo,
I would be interested in your findings. I'm not quite at the stage of geeting the rechroming started but I'm also not that far away. I have a shop in Queanbeyan (about an hour away) that has a good reputation but I believe is also on the pricey side. I know the old addage, buy once cry once, but if I can save a $ or two and get a good result I'm all over it.
Cheers
You wont go wrong with Electroplating Technology at Queanbeyan. Have used them for all my chrome work and always impressed with the work and service. They used to do the die cast stuff but the fellow who did that has retired, so you would have to send that to someone else unfortunately. Brett Sent from my SM-T865 using Tapatalk

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Stromberg Compatability - Twin Carb Setup Setup

I was thinking the same Harv. All the twin manifolds I have seen have a common plenum and again, as you say, shared inlet ports. Because of this, I am not sure what situation other than idle where a slight difference in flows would end up showing up while daily driving. Two strenuous accelerator pumps would compensate for most acceleration issues I'm guessing. The fact that you have to add the venturi restrictors perhaps indicates the plenum effect too.

Hi Wasim, are you committed to an ammeter? Voltage guage is much safer and provides useful info. Putting a fuse between alternator and battery runs the risk of damaging the alternator if it blows while charging. With a voltmeter you can fuse all the other circuits with a main fuse, but keep a direct unfused cable between battery and alternator. Modern high output alternators are well beyond the range of common ammeters as well. If you are running a generator there are no dramas fusing the feed or risk of outgrowing an ammeter😀.

General / General Board / Replacing sills on utes
|
on: October 13, 2021, 06:35:34 PM

Hi, I have to replace the inner, middle and outer sills on an EK ute. Given the ute bodie rears are similar to FE, FC, I'm wondering if anyone on the forum can help me work out how you get the bits from the door to the wheel well fitted up. I can mount the inner sill with the rest opened up, but am struggling to work out how you attach the outer sill if you weren't replacing the bottom section of the panel. If you were doing a rust repair on the quarter panel, how do you attach it to the outer sill given the lack of access from the back? Are there any projects that show this work? Many thanks Brett Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk

Has anyone got the right angle bar that holds the battery down? It's for an FB but think they are the same? I'm after wing nuts too but not as urgent. Many thanks Brett.

Yeah its a great paint, sticks well and goes on easy and finishes evenly. Where I ran into trouble was trying to go over it with something else. It was dry when I attempted over coats, so it might be like POR15 and must be overcoated when tacky.

I've used it too. However, I had real problems getting anything (acrylic lacquer, underbody spray on goop and seam sealer) to bond to it. I now only use it on things that are not going to require any further cover. It could have been my preparation, not sure.

General / General Board / Grey motor rebuilds Mogo lost to fires today

Many of you know Brad Stevens as a magician with grey motors. He and his wife Carol lost everything today in the NSW coastal fires. A very sad day. You can find him on Facebook/greymotorrebuilds if you wish to message him.
