1  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Can EJ EH aftermarket drums be machined to fit FE FC? on: August 18, 2025, 04:58:03 PM
You can still use your reco king pins and uprights with an EH front brake conversion mate - I just did this on my ute a few months ago - you need the EH steering arms and brakes, the rest is as per what you have now.

Its not a massive difference in braking ability, but it is certainly noticeable.

Nice work - looks great  Smiley Kudos to you for sticking with it and seeing it through to the end - so many of these end up getting parted out or scrapped because it is a lot harder than it looks on the shows on the telly ........

We have stayed at Wudinna pub a few times, the first time was because we couldn't get a room at Kimba and when we got to Wudinna they had the fire roaring, a great feed and at the time freshly refurbished rooms at a great rate. We have returned a couple of times since on the strength of that.

 Hi Geoff,

A couple of points from personal experience -

Fuel at Penong and Nundroo is the last of the cheaper stuff heading west. Last time we drove through there was fuel at Yalata again which has been closed for years, it was cheap as well but don't take that as gospel as I have only seen it the one time. We normally fuel at Penong then Nullarbor , then Border Village.
Overnight at Mundrabilla then stop at Cocklebiddy then Caiguna for fuel and the obligatory photo at the sign then Balladonia then Norseman.

Madura Pass roadhouse is  a dump , try and avoid if possible, we have stayed there 3 times over the last 20 years and every time the rooms are filthy, dirty sheets etc. Never again.

Mundrabilla roadhouse is a good stop , I had one of the best steak dinners I have ever had there last year , the station processes its own meat

I see you are looking at Wave Rock , the straight road from Norseman to Hyden is dirt, good dirt but dirt nevertheless. If you are looking to go to Wave Rock/Hyden best to go the long way if you value your paintwork. You can head North or South from Norseman to get there , much of  a muchness.

That is next level cool Mal, how do you go sealing them up regarding water/heat/noise ingress into the cab ?

You never fail to impress with your innovative ideas

Are you going with original style material ? There is  a bloke bringing in a lot of very good quality reproduction material for old Holdens now and he also has the molds for the pressing of the welded lines
19  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: V6 ENGINE MOUNTS HR FRONT END on: May 14, 2024, 06:32:48 PM
The engine mounts themselves or the brackets that are welded to the crossmember ? If the former you need to put up some pics so we can try and figure out what they are from ??
20  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: NEW Wiring Diagram on: March 01, 2024, 11:39:57 AM
It's amazing the little mistakes you find when you look really close.

Now I've been using these wiring schematics since the late 60s & yet I just found another mistake in the FB drawings. On the FB 215, 219, 225, 229 diagram they list 2 versions of the dome light wiring, one for FB/217 & one for all others.

Given that the 217 model was discontinued mid FC, the FB/217 never existed as a production model. Looks like they forgot to tell the electrical drawing room this info & they went ahead & drew a diagram for that model's dome light. If we end up re-drawing the FB & EK diagrams we should delete that bit.

Dr Terry

I only noticed this myself a couple of weeks back when doing a standard to special upgrade on my FB215  Shocked
