1  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Wheel Cylinders - To sleeve or not to sleeve on: August 09, 2025, 10:17:37 AM
I have restored 7 FE/FC vehicles over a 30 yr period. All have s/steel inserts in the wheel cylinders. Never had a problem. I guess it comes down to workmanship. Kevin.

The FE/FC Floor mats are from the Phillip Island Nationals [2006]. The original plastic sleeve was opened for this photo.         $60 + postage.
The Dealer Brochures [1958], are in excellent condition.. FC 225 [Sedan]  $60.    FC van  $ 40    [$ 90 if you take both]. + postage
FC   & FE LOUNGE [Boot Seats with working lights], were professionally built from vehicles I collected from car dumps out west before the metal recyclers could crush them. Difficult to put a build cost on these today. There is $2000 worth of bright bits alone on each. They have been in my home for approx. 20 years & are in excellent condition. asking $8000 each... $15000 if you take both.   These will go to an Auction house next month if not sold prior.  They are located in Ballina NSW.

Pleased to report that all the posters, signage & cabinetry has been purchased by a private collector.  I am very happy that my collection of over 35+ years remains intact & will be cared for into the future.  I have a couple of special items left that will be of interest to Club Members. Details to follow soon. As I mentioned in an earlier post.... we are really only Caretakers of the special items we collect, restore & enjoy. The final step in the Restoration/Collection journey, is to make the effort to find a new home with an owner who has the means & intent to preserve them into the future. While the Holden manufacturing has come to sad conclusion, the memorabilia will outlive us all, while ever there are people who value what remains.  Kevin.

Hey Gary . At least you won't have too much trouble restoring the " bright work". From memory instead of diecast, the poms got something correct by using brass` Wish the Holden heavies had decided to do the same. Kevin.

Looks to be an original paint colour. Hialear green [2102] code. very pretty colour, often 2 toned with Olinda green on the FE 225 models. Another completed project Wasim....any more waiting in line?   Cheers Kevin.

13  General / General Board / Re: Car transport on: April 15, 2024, 02:32:23 PM
I have used : Door to Door Transport. &  Carways, There are others if you check on Google. I sent a car to WA [from memory, the carrier  was All States Transport], Some Car Carriers have side curtains  which provide extra protection. Local Carriers are often used to pick up from your place & transport to the Depot of the Company you have contracted.  Best to ask about that before deciding.  Good Luck, Kevin.

It is on my updated "Bucket List".  Having now watched the videos, I can understand the nostalgia as you trip down "memory Lane". Kevin.
17  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Dip Stick question. not a self analysis. on: January 24, 2024, 08:10:10 AM
I did not see that coming! Although I did not get to the Museum, I only heard very positive comments from those who had.  I wish them all the best for the Auction. Kevin.

19  Technical Board / General Technical / Dip Stick question. not a self analysis. on: January 22, 2024, 02:48:34 PM
A question for someone much smarter than me.     Can the dip -stick tube in an ecotec v6 commodore [VS]. be removed without damage?  Early ford tubes can be unscrewed because they are threaded. Maybe the VS tubes are an interference fit.... or maybe they are threaded also. Last thing I want to do is break it off @ the block!   Why would you want to remove a dip-stick tube, well , that's a story for another time.
As an aside.. I heard today that Tony & Mark are "pulling the Museum plug" ... Maybe an urban myth?   Kevin.
20  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Repair/Rechrome damaged badge - is it worth the effort on: December 02, 2023, 03:31:20 PM
Hi Craig. There is a process called "electro-forming", where a coating is applied over the pitted item to be electroplated. The coating will take the electroplating, however, having tried this on an headlight surround, I would avoid this process & suggest you locate another entire rear badge. I have seen these badges commonly break above the "D".  Kevin.
