Put a fork in it and call it done!
After 6 years and about 3,100 hours in the shed it’s finished.
Really pleased with it especially considering I did about 95% of it myself.
Still some minor finishing things to do like front mud flaps, side mirrors and drivers side weather shield to go on (without scratching it!)
Cheers, Wasim

The "stainless" flat bar are alloy ones from Bunnings - can't remember the price , only know they were a lot cheaper than stainless or chrome - I just rounded the ends and polished them.

The extra switches (FC knobs) next to the radio and heater tap and heater fan - the other two on the other side are fog lights and rear window demister.

All going to plan it should be back on the road this Friday.

Cheers

In the final stages now - a bit of paint correction and buffing, put the door cards on and rear tub floor (and work out why w horn isn’t working)

Everyone that sees the Morry asks the same thing - are you going to keep the sign writing.

I bought it because it's a panel van with little rust (although rough). It has Morris Major Elite 1600 running gear - so a bit more oomph.

Whilst not set on a plan for the car - the thought has crossed my mind to do a custom 1970's style??

First things first - finish the FC ute.

Cheers, Wasim

Original colour was Duchess Green - I had no record of the current colour, so the paint supplier scanned several pieces to mix the colour.
I might get booted off the site? My next project is this😂😂😂😂😂

It’s been awhile since I last posted - but I have been busy. The Ute is basically finished in as much as what I can do. I did all the body work myself and the car goes off to paint in about 4 weeks. I just have to get the exhaust finished first.
I’m pleased with the “gaps” - a lot of patience and finessing. I made the door cards out of marine ply - the dense cardboard cards aren’t as strong!
All the chrome and stainless is ready to go as is the interior. So hopefully we’re back on the road before the end of the year.
Cheers, Wasim

I’ve been doing the body work for a couple of months - car at some stage was taken back to bare metal ( no red oxide primer anywhere).
The car is reasonably straight and I’ve spent a fair amount of time on the tailgate fitment and headlight surrounds. The front guards were FE - so all the indicator holes needed filling and FC holes added. Inside the back of the Ute was a bugger of a job - 60+ years of things being thrown in the back and that black tar substance used in the factory took a lot of time to get respectable.
Plan is to have a go at painting it myself - stay tuned 🤪

All the chrome plating has been done - very expensive but very happy. A Class in Lonsdale SA did the chrome work.
All the wiring is finished and tested and the engine is running again.
I’ll put the dash back together next week.
Next job is the body work - a tiny amount of rust repairs needed and a few small dents.

Cheers, Wasim

17  Technical Board / General Technical / Alternator exciter wire question on: April 22, 2023, 08:21:58 AM
The last piece to wiring the car is the alternator exciter wire. I've tested all the wiring  - all good - and got the motor running only to find the alternator wasn't charging. I'm using a 55 amp alternator with a built in regulator and thought it would start charging once a certain rpm was reached??? but not so - therefore I'll try it with an exciter wire.

I have a Wilsonia gauge and from what I can see if I'm going to have an ignition light (exciter) it is with the temp tell tale?

I'm confused in that the temp tell tale gets power from the ignition and is grounded to the engine block when the temp rises too high.

Where do I connect to exciter wire from the alternator??

Cheers in advance, Wasim
