1  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Stray currents in radiator. on: February 04, 2003, 09:59:11 AM
I took a few goes but finally I got what I was after.
Stray currents can cause holes in the radiator because when the electrons flow in an electrolyte (Water in this case) from + to - they take with them small amount of the metal. The same theory is used in electroplating.
I assumed that good earthing would overcome this problem but I was also seeing if anyone knew where they could be comming from. (headlights?)
I have a new radiator installed and I don't want to have a repeat performance of the last one.

Cheers
Mitch

3  General / General Board / Paint Removal on: May 11, 2002, 04:48:04 AM
Just wondering if anyone had some tips on stripping paint. I am currently sanding back an FC that has plenty of cracks and crows feet. Would sand blasting be the most effective way to remove the paint or is there another method to strip it back? Paint strippers?
4  General / General Board / FC Colours on: May 01, 2002, 10:33:50 AM
I was wondering if anyone had a list of colours that FC Utes came in? I hear there was only about 7 or so.

Cheers

5  General / General Board / Roadworthy on: April 25, 2002, 11:39:04 PM
Can anyone let me know if it is compulsary to have  wiper washers installed to get a roadworthy in VIC? My Friend has told me that they are required, however the FC ute that I own has never had them. I assumed that they would be like seatbelts.

Also if anyone has some photos of where to install heaters in the centre of the fire wall it would be appreciated.

6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: FC Heaters on: April 24, 2002, 06:23:50 AM
Thanks for your help Rod and Coolaride.
It seems, from the picture supplied and by looking at my ute, that the ute came with a Nasco Warmaride heater and the previous owner must have planned on fitting the smiths type.

If you could please send me some more pics, coolaride and template, Rod it would be very much apreciated.

My new Email address is mitch.butler@norske-skog.com.au
7  Technical Board / Restoration Help / FC Heaters on: April 23, 2002, 05:48:36 AM
I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on installing a smiths heater in to my FC. The inlet and Outlet pipes forthe heater radiator are not posistioned the sameas the holes through the fire wall.
Is there different styles of heater?
and if so could I have the wrong type to fit on my firewall?
