81  General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / Re: Partner activities on: April 26, 2007, 09:34:49 AM
my wife likes getting drunk while i watch the kids and drive.
Anyway partner activities are important, the more she gets interested in the events the easier it is on us when we want to spend some time or money on the car.
Also kids activities are important, its the easter holidays and we also get more fun if the kids are occupied.
Phillip island worked out well for us apart from the rain, my wife had fun drinking and socailising at the fire and the kids loved the activities.
I didnt have my car there but we got driven around by Tayz, GOA350 and FEhotrod, she also enjoyed that effort chucked in by those guys, especailly the lap around lang lang in the grand champion car.
The nights around the fire was a good way for everyone around the country to get to know each other.

its pissing down, the carport thing it was in has now lost its roof, ive painted the dash but i found a run in the white under the pearl so i let the paint dry and rubbed it flat and then put more on but the dash ended up with too much pearl and went gold, all the steering wheel, colum, horn buttons and glove box hinges came up real well but straight after the last coat i ran in for dinner becuase we had a visitor and my wife had cooked for us and when i came out it had been raining and the paint was stuffed i tried to get the head on my motor last week but my wife wasnt happy about me going outside, i nearly ended up with no family and spent saturday sorting that out and missed the sunny day.
hopefully in a few weeks i can get back to were i was a few weeks ago.

you could have left out the passenger door lock, its probably too late now, having a wagon i have left the lock in the tailgate and got rid of the door locks.

3.8L this engine cost me $4500. And with the changes that I will be make I'll race you too. hehe

I was waiting for that, reds are cheap with a cam, holley and extractors, start going further and $$$$$

you should get a red motor jonesy Grin

here are some pics of my phone, its not a fancy camera kind of phone so the pics arent real perfect, main thing is it holds 100 mp3 files.

i cought up with the old owner of my FE i bought when i was 18, alot of its parts are now on the FC, he had this yellow FE back then but he lived in quackers hill, not qld as he does now.
this FE had a duggan alloy head then, now it just has a holden head with SU carbs, other than that the car lookd exactly as it was 14 years ago last time i saw it, he said he has had it in storage for ten years.

Alex & John were playing around in the pits trying to get it going better
this is how it looked by time they finished, they should have left the bar of but, looks like a 55 chev a bit now.

A old mate from back in newcastle was there, he has started a business called smithy's kustoms, he was doing stripes and they came down from newcastle in his wifes EK

Then there was this ute from koolsville.

I meant to get some pics of simon telfords new ej but the phone ran out of room and my camera got flat batterys and the video camera was in the car.
it was pretty good out.

whats happening with the radiator, i noticed you havent yet cut out for a larger one, i guess with the gilmour belt you need to put the radiator in front of the radiator support panel, is that what you are doing?
89  General / General Board / Re: looking for my old wogon on: April 12, 2007, 08:53:16 AM
what did you have in that motor?
90  General / General Board / Re: looking for my old wogon on: April 12, 2007, 08:21:43 AM
when i bought mine it was green, i then painted it white then blue.
when it was all white i spotted anther one on the central coast, thinking someone stole my car my heart raced but i felt relaxed when reality hit and i realised it couldnt be stolen becuase i was driving it.

spinner has what i beleived to be that car from the central coast but its rear gaurds are flared a little., that one is in peices with some rust, at some stage someone has had a go at beefing it and welded the subframe to the body, i remember it had a hunter valley 48-67 holden club sticker on the window so that must have come from newcastle area.

your lucky my car isnt on the road jonesy, you might get to win!
92  General / General Board / Re: FE SEDAN/UTE DOORS on: April 10, 2007, 10:13:23 AM
the top frame on a ute door curves at the back and a sedan door has a 90 degree corner at the top of the back of the window frame. bottom half is the same if you want to cut up two doors and stick them together.
93  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: interior firewall cardboard on: April 10, 2007, 08:57:22 AM
if keeping stock is not important you could probably do a better job with dynamat extreme sheets, thats all i am using.
94  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: fe hotrod,s custom grill on: April 09, 2007, 10:07:22 PM
yeah thats looking better,
apart from the chop and getting that low it would be easier for me becuase i dont have photoshop, you forgot the mirror, maybe take of the seatbelt bolt in the b pillar too.
its ammazing the difference the rear quarter badge and door handles make and now that flash is looking real cool on a nice clean handle and badgeless side.
95  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Compression?? on: April 09, 2007, 10:44:17 AM
best thing is if your starter or battery dies, you just stick your leg out the door, whack it in 2nd, kick off and away she goes.
96  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: fe hotrod,s custom grill on: April 09, 2007, 10:19:23 AM
oops, dont forget to take off the rear quarter badge too

Modify the overriders and make them easily detachable that way you can change the look when ever you feel like it.

I like it either way.

Cheers Jim

yeah, make them magnetic, if you are bad at parking or road rage you can keep some spare in the boot.

rolled pans would be cool but tricky on a FE-C, you have enough chrome, you could loose a bit in a few areas, maybe add some in the form of lakes pipes but loose the door handles and scratch plates and mirror, loose that chunky ariel or french it or stick it under the car or under the dash, anyone got a minute to photochop that stuff in (or out)

99  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: harmonic balancer bolt (again) on: April 07, 2007, 09:12:12 AM
Craig, it was either this 7/16 bolt or a 1/2" bolt they had in crank bolts, i thought it looked long, what the hell am i going to do now!

everything i could get in arp i did but yeah, they are pretty dear, i had to get gm flex plate bolts, they were only $1 each at american autos, they only had arp for manual flywheels but i bought arp chev torque convertor bolts, everything inside the motor is arp except the head studs (well kinda) all the outside bolts are hotbitz, the head studs were made from two milodon chev mains kits wich cost a fortune, later i found out american autos get arp kits now for holden headstuds and they are only $99 a set, less than half what mine cost but i get a couple spare.
I wanted arp, whats funny but is i noticed it says arp on the milodon nuts.

i was told to use wire and loctite a few times, maybe thats excessive paranioa.
100  Technical Board / Modification Help / harmonic balancer bolt (again) on: April 07, 2007, 08:42:38 AM
does this look like the correct bolt to use when fitting a bolt to prevent the balancer from coming off, its a chev 7/16 bolt.

Also i heard something about drilling the end off the bolt to put wire through since a lock tab cant be used, anyone done this?
