69  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Inlet Port Guides on: June 13, 2006, 10:50:59 PM
usually its a standard procedure if you port the head, you do the inlet to match, and usually if youve got a worked motor you wouldnt be running your exhaust manifold... Shocked  Wink
70  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey Distributor Unleaded Specs. on: June 13, 2006, 11:02:14 AM
we went by his word we never heard the motor run....
we had the fb for 6 years straight on unleaded without any additives and it seemed to run fine, although was starting to lose a bit of power about 5 years into us owning it, this could have been a number of things tho...

Rod,
the guy who does your dizzy will know what to do to it, if not, theres a bloke in nunawading vic who specialises in em...cheers...  :-/

EDIT: come to think of it, that 308 ran on lpg! this would most likely explain it... Shocked
71  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey Distributor Unleaded Specs. on: June 13, 2006, 06:59:13 AM
dont know if this helps at all, but we purchased a 308 about a year or so ago and the guy said 'i have been running it on unleaded, runs fine....' once we pulled the motor down we found that the valves were about 1/8" below the combustion chamber :O id say this is the result of not fitting hardened seats prior to running unleaded.... :-/

74  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / 1958 FC STANDARD *PRICE DROP* on: June 10, 2006, 06:17:07 AM
1958 FC STANDARD SEDAN
Car is very original and still has the original paint on it.
The roof has been poorly painted in red oxide primer (how we brought it).
We purchased the car with the intension of finishing it, but now we need the room
and $$$ to finish off another project. The interior is MINT!(has blue headlining, matching the seats)
And is the original for this car. floormats are also mint! as is the bootmat. Sills
and body except the A pillar, look to be in excelent condition!

Now for the negative parts

-drivers side A pillar needs replacing (pretty well knackered...)
-no motor/box
-slight (i mean slight!) damage to drivers door
-Subframe needs a new front section (below radiator underneath)

Asking $1400 $1000

also comes with: 2 grey motors; one has head off (but comes with head) the other reasonably complete.

I will post some pictures and id plate details tomorrow.

Located Western Suburbs, Melbourne Cool

76  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Shaving Grey Heads on: June 07, 2006, 01:26:42 AM
its usually not all that expensive to deck a block, but im pretty sure Dave wasnt doing a full rebuild, but was only seeking a little more HP from his already running grey motor. Cool
