61  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Fish Oil on: October 16, 2005, 01:01:23 AM
I have been spraying fish oil into the doors, tail gate , rear 1/4 panels etc but the oil is so thin I'm not sure if is going to do any good? Have sprayed several coats, is there any way to thicken it up or is there some other product I can use?? or just keep pumping in the fish oil?

62  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: GREY MOTOR PERFORMANCE on: July 27, 2005, 04:45:41 PM
Burnsy
Sorry to  confuse, I was told that because I had the bigger valves the
valve seats could not be modified. I think that this was because there was not enough material left to machine out to fit the inserts.
Seems that Hysteria has had it done so may be I was given wrong info?

63  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: GREY MOTOR PERFORMANCE on: July 24, 2005, 12:03:56 PM
It depends how much go you want.
Port and polish head and fit 202 valves and 186 heavy duty valve springs. You can skim the head upto 60 thou past the thumb print.
Wade 102 cam , twin carbs and extractors 21/2 pipe work.
lighten fly wheel. Steel timing gear
As others have said its a good idea to have everything balanced and shot peened.
This should give you a smooth and faster grey.
But if you were to spend the same ammount on a red motor!!
Also you cant modify a grey head (bigger valves) and get the seats hardened to run unleaded?

No indicators at all, working ok before I pulled the dash and lights.
Will check to see if there is power to bulbs then work backwards.

Thanks Dean
Pulled the switch apart and cleaned the contacts, had to rewire as the coiled resistor was bust.
Dash lights working, head lights dimming.
The link to Martins post was great.
Just the indicators to sort out now.
Thanks

69  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Badge Clips on: December 31, 2004, 12:41:27 PM
Bought some badge clips (inserts) for "HOLDEN" on the bonnet.
The inserts are too long, the prong pushes in ok but does not engage with the retaining area of the insert (make sense). Where can I get the correct inserts? or another method of fixing the letters
I have some from Rare Spares and some from a local shop they are both the same!
Any ideas
Putting this car back together is  geting harder as it gets closer to the end!

Ken
Top of RHF with the seal in place  the section by the screen and along the top are out too far.
No seal door looks perfect
If there was less rubber should fit ok but not sure if I should trim the seal and if i were to how?
Make sense??

73  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Bending the Bailey Channel HELP on: December 21, 2004, 02:54:42 AM
Thanks Graham
Once bent and ready to fit do you refit  the original clips to the channel, and if so are these just pushed on or are the little pointed tabs pushed through the rubber? backing and turned over to secure.
Or is ther some modern method of fixing glue, silicone?
Sorry for all the questions on what should be simple?, but i've seen some cars that have all this stuff replaced and it has looked awful
Thanks again Ken, Graham and Alex

Thanks.
Could use the glass as mandrel ?
The instructions say to bend a little at a time, if done correctly the  chrome beading will extend past the channel?

75  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Weather Seal ????? on: December 19, 2004, 07:54:41 AM
Trial fitting weather seals.
Top right hand corner  of door too far out, remove seal from this section and fits ok.
Whats the best method of  triming the seal for a better fit??
Would this be more fun if it was easy?Huh
