41  Technical Board / General Technical / Its not the oil seal!!!! (lump in sump) on: August 27, 2006, 08:28:03 AM
Removed the harmonic balancer only to find no trace of the copious amount of oil that was covering the under side of the engine and cross member.
Spotted a large lump in the sump.
Car started and drove ok no strange noises.
Guess something has come adrift and put a hole in the sump, lump about the size of half a tennis ball.
Any ideas.

48  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: MIG WELDER -SIZE DOES MATTER? on: August 21, 2006, 01:18:51 AM
Which is the better size wire for panel work .6 or .8?
I have been using .8 but have a feeling the smaller size would be better?
Also is it better to butt or lap weld I have a air flange tool and use that but think I may be making more work for myself? (weld continuously outer and tack inner surface)
Any thoughts?

49  Technical Board / General Technical / Wipers no go on: August 19, 2006, 03:42:30 AM
Wipers are not working, power goes to the terminals then goes to the housing.
No idea what happens after that
Easy fix?
2 speed wipers

51  Technical Board / General Technical / Stuck Spare Wheel Door on: April 20, 2006, 12:16:07 PM
I adjusted the spare wheel door to make a better fit. Its now such a good fit it will not open! The tongue of the lock is catching on an extra bit of metal I fitted.
The floor of the tub is fixed so can I drop the tank free the lock and replace the tank from underneath the ute?
Or any other ideas.

Petrol is pouring out of the carburetors, somewhere under the float chamber  I think.
Seems ok when running and on tick over but when motor turned off just keeps dripping.

54  Technical Board / General Technical / Fuel Sender Help on: January 26, 2006, 03:14:39 AM
Fuel gauge needle flutters goes to full/MT changed the gauge still the same.
Had a bit of a fiddle with sender worked ok for a while.
Can I do anything to get it to work or must I replace sender?
Rare Spares  sell them? Get them any where  else.
If I get a new one do I have to change over the float?

Jonno
I fitted some to an EK ute but I guess it would be similar.
I used Securon belts as the reel unit is very small and fits on the floor beside the seat with just enough room with the seat fully back.
I drilled a hole in the pillar to position the top of the belt
Welded a nut on to a piece of 3mm plate and then pushed the plate into the void between th inner and outer skin, I then bolted the plate in position. Then drilled 4 small holes in the inner skin and spot welded to the plate.
For added strength  I welded a piece  of 1.6mm plate to the inner skin. Maybe should have done some more work to the floor used 3mm plate 50x50 mm
Works great and looks good.

57  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Rear 1/4 Interior Trim on: January 08, 2006, 09:42:45 AM
Just got some interior trim for the rear of a station sedan.
Its in 2 pieces the larger piece is obvious how to fit but the smaller section that curves and is removed to replace the lights  is not as obvious. Does this slot in behind the larger piece ?
The smaller piece is too large and needs to be cut to fit making it even harder!
Any help and pictures would be a great help.

58  Technical Board / General Technical / Speaker Position? on: December 19, 2005, 12:27:20 AM

59  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Tonneau Hard Soft None? on: October 30, 2005, 12:22:37 AM
The utes painted will soon have the seats recovered/ repaired.
Not sure as  what to do regarding the tonneau?
A hard cover would be nice but are expensive/hard to get??
(Any one know of any suppliers in Vic ?)
Dont really want to drill holes to fit a canvas tonneau
Coming round to the idea of not fitting anything at all.
The floor is marine ply screwed down and the edges sealed.
How would this stand up to every day use?
Any comments,ideas experiences appreciated.
