284  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: rear door alignment. on: September 03, 2006, 06:37:26 AM
Dam, ok, first I might try swapping a few hinges around.

With the front doors I have a few different hinges, some have little holes, some have big holes and some have a corner cut flat, some have 2 corners cut flat and some have all corners round, wich ones go where?
285  Technical Board / Restoration Help / rear door alignment. on: September 03, 2006, 02:47:18 AM
I just went to trial fit a rear door on the driver side, i am sure i have fitted it up before but it sits down at the back and high at the front with a 5-6mm gap between the alignment strip.
This might be a silly question but how do you adjust the angle the door sits?
286  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Door locks on: September 03, 2006, 02:41:36 AM
utes, vans and standard sedans and wagons all have no drivers door lock, I guess it seemed safer to enter from the passenger side if you parked in the street and still allows you to open your chicks door first.
specails had all the bells and whistles including the extra convenience of door lock holes on both sides.

289  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: wish list, parts needed on: August 30, 2006, 11:27:15 AM
I am after a set of skinny chrome rims that look like the older type, they will be run with no hubcaps and whitewalls on crossplys and be a 2nd set of alternative wheels to a set of radials and hubcaps, i may also use the fronts at the drags with a set of slicks on the back if i can find small slicks.
290  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: wish list, parts needed on: August 30, 2006, 08:19:09 AM
I have a new wheel here I bought from a trailer shop but I dont like the style of the centre, it kind of looks like a 13" hq wheel.
The tyre shop told me today that they couldnt get 13" or step down 14"outers anymore but they may be able to use something like hyundai outers.
Apparently hr outers cant be removed without destroying them.
I might see if I can contact roh but I have a feeling they will look like the roh one I bought from the trailer shop.
291  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: Fe Special Sedan For Sale on: August 29, 2006, 06:01:52 AM
cheapies always go quick becuase a wider range of people can afford to walk up and drive off, dearer ones dont sell till the right buyer comes along.
If the dearer ones could sell as quick as a newer car in the same price range we would all start up car yards selling them since they wouldnt lose value sitting in the yard like a vt commodore or au falcon might

Hey Weddo,
I missed it, would he still have it on his hard drive?
293  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: wish list, parts needed on: August 28, 2006, 06:37:17 AM
I now have the pedal box thanks to mal,
I was looking for some good hr rims but I have found I only need good centres, The wheel place tells me the outer has to be destroyed to remove the inner for chroming and new outers will need to be put on, they think the 13" outers may no longer be availiable but I should find out through the week.
So now what I need is some hr rims to suit discs, (should have a hole drilled between the wheelnuts) doesnt matter if they have stuffed outers, just as long as the inner is good.
294  For Sale and Wanted / Auction and Trade Links / nos wagon rear quarter $150 on: August 27, 2006, 10:45:01 AM
I just bought a pretty smick nos door of this guy for $100, it has a coating on it that scratches back to silver metal with your finger nail.
It was pretty tempting to grab this aswell but my rear quarters are already done.
but still a nice garage ornament if you have nothing to use it for.

296  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: FC sedan. 350 chev , Auto for sale on: August 27, 2006, 12:35:48 AM
you could call it resto rod but that term is taken, I guess like resto guys who want to see a car turned back to how they remember it or how they were, the same can be desired with a modified car, especailly if it was well known.
Sometimes I think about building a replica of my first FE that I never got on the road, modified cars seem to really reflect the times they were modified in.
A extreme example is like when you find a well known custom show car from the sixties but its a rusted out wreck yet worth way more than a stocker with no history in the same condition.
anyway, I remember greg had two cars sitting up above the shelves in his shop, one a stocker and one a v8,  when you walked between the shelves you were walking under the cars, he said it was the only place thwey were safe. they had a few V8's, wasnt there one with personalised plates too, something like MY58FC? and some that popped up in magazines through the years and one that was stolen.
Anyway, my FC wagon is made up of lots of stuff from my FE, like the drivers door, brakes, dash, seats, motor etc.
Hey mini, maybe the sedan can be your next project with what you have left of it.
297  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / hr disc hubs on: August 26, 2006, 09:21:36 PM
I am after some good hr disc brake hubs, does anyone have any close by or know if they can be bought new from anywere? my old ones have a welded stud and some gouges in were the inner bearing sits and radial gouges were the outside bearing sits.
298  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: FC sedan. 350 chev , Auto for sale on: August 26, 2006, 09:13:05 PM
Ive known greg and dave since i was about 5 but dont really see much of them these days, I remember one of the maclarens telling me, "no need for rack & pinion with a v8, you just make the box fit with a grinder"
299  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: FE Modding Questions. on: August 25, 2006, 11:29:33 AM
I did my car on a tight budget about 10 years ago, from the time I first did my car up I spent about $300, plus the front and rear ends out of my FE and a motor from a 202 lx torana that was sitting down the back of my nans yard, this was the time the motor went from red to grey and the colour went from green house paint to white car paint, It was white becuase colour was way out of my price range and white was only $40 for 4 litres, prior to the paint stage I was unemployed and had about $10 to do it up, I remember going for a job interview with a pink spray putty roof and grey lower half with zebra stripes, no headlights, bumpers or grill and the number plates taped on, I got the job, bought paint, thinners and sandpaper and convinced the boss to let me borrow the shop to paint my car in so I wouldnt get defected driving to work.
I dont know how I did it, I now am forking out hundreds left right and centre, when you start trying to replace all the bits and peices with new stuff it can go out of hand, I just got back from rare spares, they didnt have all the stuff I went to get but it still cost over $300 for another small bag of parts.
Anyway, guess it depends on what standard you want to acheive, will it be a resto, racer, cruiser or show pony

not sure about vic but here in nsw you have to run all the pollution control stuff that came with the block so really you should have the air pump, charcoal canister etc, thats the advantage here of a red block
