Yes there was a slot at the bottom where water was supposed to drain from, I think it was pretty ineffective.
It was a small gap between the inner sill and the bottom of the A pillar About 20 mm long.

203  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: EJ Grey Gearbox swap on: September 05, 2020, 04:42:29 PM
The EJ gearbox was more a red motor gearbox than a grey one. The mounts are different to earlier gearbox and it has a one-off bellhousing.
204  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Steering box seals on: September 05, 2020, 10:01:04 AM
Originally it was not a seal, it was just packing

I think Rare Spares sells the seal that they use in their kit separately

That’s what I have shown in the diagram, the picture is from the fitting instructions.
As stated, I usually move it over a fraction so the bolt does not go through the rib. Makes it neater, but I’ve seen plenty of dealer fitted heaters exactly as per the diagram.

John, started thinking, are you wanting the internals of the fuse or the heat shrink bits on the outside, two of mine shown have the heat shrink but it is very hard and would break easily.

These are the best I can come up with

The rubber protector ends are hard to find in good order, but all inside is still good.

It wasn’t so much the putting back together, but the getting the tank apart without cutting the seam off

Ha good one Zulu, mine was one of those blue with a white roof EK’s that no one really likes, so was no great loss.

Lol

I believe it’s some sort of a rolling spot weld that seals the join. It’s impossible to get apart From my experience.

You can see the rear trans mount bolts in the photos. These went through the support braces that Errol showed in his picture. They had a top plate which you can see and crush tubes inside.

Here’s the photos of my car

I actually put the entire front EK floor in from sill to sill so there were no joins in the floor pans.
Don’t tell anyone that I cut up a rust free EK Hydro shell to build this car!!!

Plenty of clearance Cam, I could fit my hand up and over the top of the Trimatic when it was fully installed

Errol shows exactly what I did as well with my trimatic. The joining piece not shown In Errol’s picture is actually on the other side of the floor and is about half the height of the metalwork below the floor. It is not square section either, it is hemispherical. I have a pic somewhere which I’ll look for.

Yes, that is where switch is mounted. Here is pic of heater position. It is optimised vertically to allow the parcel shelf to fit below and be below the dash. Horizontally is important so that the Demister vents clear around the vent handle. All the ones I’ve done I have moved it 15mm to the right so the nut is not right on top of the ridge. Clearance of the ducts around the vent handle is tight But will work. Ends up a much neater finish in the end.

The original tap for the Nasco heater is quite crude

217  General / General Board / Re: FE FC heater switch on: August 13, 2020, 08:57:05 PM
This is the knob, can’t find a pic of the back, but it is ceramic with a coil of wire similar to the light switch dimmer control
