Thanks Alex. So that means the only difference between the two is that that the FC front bumper has no holes for the numberplate overrrider. If so, then is it uncool to drill holes to fit the FE overrider on the FC bumper? Cat

General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / Extra accommodation booked?
on: April 10, 2003, 10:20:17 PM
Hi everyone, Just a quick note to let you know that if you've booked your accommodation for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at the 'I of P' but are intending to stay Monday night too book it now.I spoke to the staff there yesterday and apparently many of our rooms are booked from the Monday because of the Easter/Anzac long weekend, and they are probably not going to be able to extend your stay if you wait until you get there. We are still able to pay for the additional night at the Club rate. Also, tea/coffee, tea towels, dishwashing stuff and bath towels are provided, but the staff suggested that we bring our own beach towels. Cheers, Cat

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Battery platform paint colour

Thanks Al, That's useful info to know and much appreciated. I was actually hoping not to use the tar paint if possible and I know overfilling batteries is a common problem so am always carfeul to make sure I don't and then I should't have any problems! The person who owned the car before me used a couple of layers of rubber tubing under the battery and of course over the years this has gone really disgusting and goopy so I though a clean up may be in order! Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FC Grey Motor Timing Gear
on: March 22, 2003, 12:40:14 AM
Jus a quick note for those who are interested, I have just had my original fibre timing gear in TC replaced for a new fibre timing gear. The gear has lasted for over 73,000 miles so far. It has worn in 3 places, these are apparently "the usual" places for it to wear, and eventually it would have gone. The oil spout that feeds the oil to the gear was functioning properly so there were no problems there. Actually the whole engine was very very clean and lookin' goooood! Cool huh?! So we decided to replace the fibre gear with another one. As everything is working well, and we got over 73,000 miles on the original gear, why not replace it with what was made for it and go for another 73,000 miles? Apparenlty it runs a little quieter than the metal gears so that's good. Also our oil products these days are far better than they used to be and the car has been checked all over for any problems so, by my reckoning, there should be no reason for the gear to go for a long time to come. Technical Board / Restoration Help / Battery platform paint colour
on: March 22, 2003, 12:24:26 AM
Ok, next question! In an FE where the engine bay is the same colour as the car, not black like in FCs, what colour is the platform that the battery sits on supposed to be? I presume it is best to paint it in the tar paint so the acid doesn't affect it, but is that the right colour, or should it be the same colour as the car - in my case Castle G**y? (See I didn't even use the "G" word ret! ) Cat

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Which rubbers???
on: March 20, 2003, 09:19:01 AM
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I was wondering which rubber kit is the best to get? I need to get TC waterproof before the big treck to queensland so the windows and doors are the main target and I have heard that the RS ones are RS.....is Peter Jackson better or are they the same manufacturer? Or is there someone better that repro's them? Any advice is very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cat
