make sure that your auto is in good condition prior to fitting a shift kit....if your auto is in poor condition it will shorten the life of it....if its in good ocndition it will extend the life...makes sense right??? your local transmission place can fit a shift kit, either that or there are other ones that you can fit yourself, just simply remove oil pan and bolt up.

carby/exhaust and a tune will get it up and running well. if youve got the $$$ look into things like mild stall (if its an auto) shift kit (if an auto) bigger cam (power range that begins when stall locks) diff gears (3:5:5) your head choice seems to be ok....with the above things id say it will be a pretty quik 6.... u will be catching the vl's with ease

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Gearbox mounting

Matt (earlyholdenfan) knows more about this than me, but the earlier box (pre commodore i believe) were able to be drilled and tapped, so that you could fit the original grey motor gearbox mounts. I can give you rodger Hancock's phone number as he is the guru on this....pm me if u want it. as for the high stall, i know a guy who can modify the original convertor if you still have it (or we probably have one here...) what do you want it to stall at? with that cam im guessing around 2800?

guide plates are not a neccesity (spelling?) but are good to have. I do believe that they are interchangeable tho, do you know what stud sizes they suit? best advice would probably to ring somewhere like vpw australia or even a local engine builder, etc.
sorry i couldnt be of any more help.... :-/
