Hi Keith and everybody else,
I have attached a couple of pics of the LH wishbone/crossmember. What do you think?

23  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Tailgate mechanism wanted on: March 28, 2010, 08:11:50 PM
Hi all,
I am after the inner mechanism of a tailgate, i.e. the metal plate that covers the hole, the handle, rods, springs etc.
What have you got?
24  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Tailgate skins on: March 26, 2010, 06:54:15 AM
I thought that $250 seemed a bit hot. Do you have Craig Vane's contact details?
25  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Tailgate skins on: March 25, 2010, 09:31:20 PM
There seems to be some significant difference in the prices of tailgate skins out there, ranging from $99 to $250. What experiences have you had with any of them?

Hi Yogi,
I tried to PM you but it wouldn't play the game. I will speak to the guy again tomorrow and get his number and exact location for you. Then, I'll direct email you.

About 50ks north of Geelong.

I came across a bare FB/EK ute shell today. Nice and rusty. No front sheetmetal, subframe, doors, tailgate or spare tyre tailgate, engine, box, tailshaft, glass, nothing. Rear quarters and roof looked ok.
It does have a rear end in it and a steering column.
I think he wants $200.
Interested?
30  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: Power Steering on: March 24, 2010, 07:53:00 AM
That is the question. A fully reco unit which started at 99 cents on evilBay and went for over $1300! There is another (non-reco.) at the moment with a $500 bid and about a week to go.
I was thinking about $700 plus postage.
What do you think?
31  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Power Steering on: March 23, 2010, 08:22:08 PM
I have an almost complete power steering set up, originally off an HR? What I have consists of: Complete pump with lines and mounting bracket, spare pump body, ram and drag link set up with lines, tie rods, twin belt water pump pulley, fan, fan belt and a few bolts.
The ram needs recoing. It leaks but the ram chrome seems good. The pump condition I don't know. The ball joints you would replace anyway.
Only missing the bracket where the ram mounts to the subframe which should be easy to fabricate.
32  Technical Board / General Technical / Front end issue on: March 22, 2010, 09:15:20 PM
Hi Floks,
I was tinkering with my project FC today, trying to get the Torana calipers off my HR front end. When I swung the hub to full lock, I noticed the wishbone move forwards as well! I had a closer look and one wishbone is further forward than the other and its bush seems to be hanging in 'mid air'. I also noticed that it takes less turns of the wheel to get to full lock one way than the other. Are these matters related? Does the wayward wishbone mean the crossmember is knackered or does it just need rebushing?
33  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / LH rear spring hanger box section on: March 21, 2010, 09:14:01 AM
Hi all, especially anyone with a wreck of a sedan or wagon.
I am after the forward section of the left hand rear leaf spring box section, if that makes sense!
I am after the section that runs from just in front of the front spring hanger to where it meets the inner sill.
If you have one of these that you can chop out for me, I'd be keen to hear from you.
34  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Rust repair panels and rear spring hanger repair on: March 21, 2010, 09:09:15 AM
Hi Guys and thanks for all the advice. And yes, Ken, it is a ute! The remarkable thing is one spring hanger section is fine, the other is basically gone. I didn't imagine that this was predominantly a ute problem, so if I have a fair chance of getting a section from a sedan/wagon wreck, I will explore that possibility first.
Anyway, buckle up because there will be plenty of questions to come!
35  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Rust repair panels and rear spring hanger repair on: March 19, 2010, 12:51:44 PM
Hi Folks,
I am looking at doing some rust repairs on my FC and have made a comprehensive list of repair panels needed.
I have a couple of questions: How good a fit are the available rust repair panels, i.e. outer sills and floor pans? Are inner sills easy to fabricate?
Also, the box section in front of my rear spring hangers is virtually non-existent. What is the best method of repairing these as off the shelf sections don't seem to be available?

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I couldn't find the owner's number but, as it turns out, it has been sold.

Are you interested in a (more or less) complete ute?
