Shoulder goes through into the leg. Can be difficult to get that last bit in.

I’m not aware of anyone making an early style plate repro. There was a guy on fb making the later one from FB onwards which would probably suit your purposes though.

Re the holes in the plate, can’t think why GMH a would drill holes in the plate, they would be more likely to put an X or something like that to signify not used.

I’m not familiar at all with Vauxhall though.

Has the braided flexible line been replaced, this is a common source of fuel supply problems

Try Eastern Auto paints in Melbourne
145  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Original fuel sender unit on: April 11, 2021, 12:22:27 PM
The sender is faulty, easiest to get either try a second hand one or get one from Rare Spares

Does it read 1/4 full with the sender out of the tank or in the tank or both?

Vern every engineer I’ve dealt with is happy to accept internal seat belt mounts as long as they are well photographed. That is
A pic with ruler to show dimensions, radii etc of the plate and the nut.
A pic of the B pillar holes showing bolt position and weld through holes.
A pic of the plate in position with no welding done yet.
A pic of the plate after welding
Etc.
You can never take too many pics

Just the holes where the trim is attached
150  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: 1958 FC Station Sedan Chassis on: March 26, 2021, 05:45:16 PM
The FC doesn’t have a chassis that unbolt like a chev of the same year does. Everything has to be cut out and repaired. Generally even donor pieces from other cars need a little repair work before they can be used again. The workshop manual shows the chassis details but fitting / making new pieces is generally how it’s done.
I have a workshop manual for sale if you are interested in purchasing one.

Yes they are the same
152  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: FE Rear Indicators on: March 10, 2021, 07:22:26 PM
That is correct Muzzie. In September 1959 the indicators were moved to the lower lense and it was changed to orange colour

Yes you’re right Doug, I assumed Muzzie was talking about lower amber indicators, not the indicators in the brake lights.
This is the page from the FC glove box manual

154  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: wiper grommet and spring kit on: March 10, 2021, 12:31:53 PM
First you need to remove the old one and inspect it to confirm where it is loose. It could be the grommets that are worn out or could be in the linkage.
Repair Depends on how skilled you are. It’s not really hard to pull apart and repair. It’s riveted together, so needs new rivets to reassemble.
If you don’t have the skills, then hunt up a better one.

Yep, classic sign of earth problems.

156  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: wiper grommet and spring kit on: March 10, 2021, 08:54:13 AM
That sounds like wear in the joint of the wiper arm. These can be reconditioned to tighten up the socket.

157  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Boot Separater Board and Firewall Board on: March 10, 2021, 08:08:26 AM
A trimmer should be able to source the board for the firewall and behind the rear seat.
I have plenty of the original clips in my collection of stuff. I’ll look them up.

158  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: wiper grommet and spring kit on: March 10, 2021, 08:05:15 AM
I assume you are talking about WM1003 kit.
The grommets will fit FE FC but the spring clip is essentially a FX FJ thing.
You push out the old grommets from the wiper arms and push in the new ones.
FE and FC use two individual clips to hold the wiper arms onto the wiper motor, I have some of these if you need them.

159  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Front coil spring colour. on: March 02, 2021, 08:21:12 PM
I agree, aftermarket spring.
Broken springs are very common in FE FC.
I have a few spares if anybody needs them
