121  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: FCCOOL KUSTOM WAGON REBUILD for Mt Gambier? on: March 21, 2007, 09:34:19 AM
Man this weather has been rediculous, humidity has been sitting between 70-92%, everytime i lift the plastic off the car it gets wet and i have about 4 days left of daylight savings.
i finally got my passenger door fitting in using a porta power borowed from maco, i had about 6 unsuccseful attempts  but then stuck it between the A pillar top hinge and on the bottom of the window line on the B pillar and it all went into place, the passenger door has always had problems so i spent about 10 minutes after that just opening and closing the door in amazement, no longer will i have to shut the door for the missus before i get in.

I squirted a little epoxy inside the doors but it didnt seem to do what i wanted it to do in the edges and stuff, I ended up painting inside the panels with rustgaurd enamel, so far were i have used this stuff it is holding up well but were i used por 15 has all orange rust coming through in spots even through the tie coat.
you just have to remember not to get any other paint over the top of the rust gaurd or it will fry, also the enamel stays soft for a day or two after you paint it.

This is how the weather nearly always seams to look around here when its not raining, notice now my plastic shed has a smashed window, might need to get some cling wrap, the roof has become so bad that it has just about torn the length of the roof in the centre.

I dont think that the epoxy could have been a uglier colour, i hope i dont get any stone chips, as soon as i put the doors on ofcourse it pissed down and they got wet, allready were i got a scratch in the epoxy it is rusting, man i hate rust.

the truck driver that delivers our cars at work has been telling me his mate has a yellow 327 FC for sale, i thought it may have been pauls old car, now after seeing this it fits the description he gave so it probably is.
I dont know if i like its new look but.

good stuff, the rust is in the typical spots, sounds like you have handy gear at work, those inner sills seem pretty heavy duty.
I myself am rebuilding a FC wagon and have completed most of the rust repairs, i found heaps of rust i never knew was there till i fully striped it.
126  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Petrol Chrome Filguard on: March 17, 2007, 11:54:53 AM

127  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: FCCOOL KUSTOM WAGON REBUILD for Mt Gambier? on: March 14, 2007, 01:08:21 PM
its a ebay one, its a commodore 6 trimatic, it has apparently run 13's in a torana, chirps second and come with a stall convertor wich has no brand on it but is the same comlour as a dominator, it was $70, it should do for now, getting  good box built will cost over 1k so that can get done later when i know exactly what i need.

holidays were bad timing, i got perfect weathe rin the last two days, the last day i had to go to my brothers 30th and also pick up my transmission.
i have now got epoxy on the outer of the rear doors and tailgate, they should be soon ready to hang back on the car.
129  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: fcvan on: March 12, 2007, 10:51:24 AM
man you must have a large area between your dash and firewall, ai barely made space to squeeze in the ignition box, i am trying to find a location for the booster, i never thought of that one but dont think i will get one in there, is it hard to add fluid or do you just pour it through a funnel and hose?

coolaride  Wink

ha ha, i used to race BMX, our vacuum repair guy restores mongooses and usually has frames and tuffs in the back of his van, everytime he comes to service our vacuum's i get stuck with memory's of days at the track in my head for the rest of the day, he says he only rides them around his driveway, i often think of building a replica of one of my old bikes but couldnt imagine myself riding it around.
132  General / General Board / Re: clear screen windscreen on: March 10, 2007, 10:29:12 AM
just wondering what a screen is worth now, how much extra fitting costs and how much less if you have your own rubber.

hey coolaride, just looking at your avatar, are you one of those guys that fixes up old mongooses and stuff?
133  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: NES138 on: March 10, 2007, 08:51:12 AM

i hope you still have the nut on a bit, the wack in the forhead you can get from these sux.
last time i had one stuck i drove from newcastle to tamworth with the nut finger tiight, when i got there a mate up there jumped in and pulled it straight of, his muscles must have been even bigger than mine.
I think it is best to pull it just below the spokes on each side and strauight up at the angle the column is on, you can tap the centre a little but you dont want to stuff the sterring box.
is this a auto?
what colum is it, i have ej auto colum parts here if you need any bits for nothing.
have you checked everything down the bottom end?
136  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: HR Draglink - EH sump clearance on: March 07, 2007, 10:50:23 AM
when my car was engineered, the engineer checked it and it cleared, however when i pulled out my motor i noticed a dent on each side from the steering arms, it could depend on were your engine mounts are welded on too i guess.
137  General / General Board / foxtel users, cars that ate paris is back, on: March 06, 2007, 10:00:56 AM
cars that ate paris, no you youngins, its not a movie about paris hilton,  might not be for everyone, it was filmed in sofala at the end of the sixties and has a few ratty FE & FC holdens that tear up the town.

I always loved this movie becuase we spent alot of time around sofala as kids with my grandad who often camped in sofala becuase he needed a break from the rat race of his waterfront $30 a week unit in manly.

I think it will be on show greats at about 10:20pm
138  For Sale and Wanted / Cars Wanted / Re: Body wanted on: March 05, 2007, 08:35:48 AM
if it had rust around the back, in repairing the rust you would probably end up repairing the damage with little more work, i pretty much had to cut the back to peices and stick it back together and the car had no visible rust at the back before i striped it, it would be good to find the c*&t that did it, get the car fixed then break there legs, i hate people like that, i have witnessed and reported a few, one time i saw some dude drinking a beer and driving a truck pull into a shopping centre car park, wipe out two cars and drive back out like nothing happened and I left a simular note on the two cars with the details.
I would say it was a unliscensed or uninsured driver, did the witness see what type of car it was or just get the rego, i would say they will try and clean any evidence from the car and deny it once the police contact them.

140  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: FCCOOL KUSTOM WAGON REBUILD for Mt Gambier? on: March 03, 2007, 02:43:27 PM
stuff it, i will just put pics up now.
here is the tailgate, after scratching my head for two years trying to figure out how to fix my busted nuts, paint inside, and line the tailgate with deadner before fitting the speakers I decided to cut out two holes, these will have steel speaker baffle of thicker metal screwed in, i never new about the bracing and had to cut it, I then run some rod around the cut edge and did a continuios weld between the brace and the rod. the speakers are diamond audio 6x9 60wrms, they are hand made in USA and will run off a small zapco amp, i like listening to music, the tailgate is a fb-ek one, i have welded its holes and did some rust repairs, i then gave it a bit of a sandblast iside but my supercheap blaster doesnt do the best job and it started raining in the middle of it but there is no loose rust or anything like that, I am just painting inside thae panels with killrust and a brush, i got some can on clearance for $6 i thin it first to seep it into the edges, then paint it straight out of the can.

bog isnt in yet here, just a little fibreglass filler on the welds.
