Aaron, Also the wire from B+ at regulator to battery lead connection at starter motor needs to be removed. OR Instead of connecting ammeter wire to regulator, disconnect the wire at starter motor ( wire from B+ terminal at regulator) and join ammeter wire to it. Mal

Aaron, I wired my ammeter in the sixties, during my resto I rewired it using this method. One wire from ammeter to the battery lead connection at starter motor. The other wire to the rearmost voltage regulator terminal (B+). I used 30amp wire and soldered the wire terminals. When the headlamps etc are turned on the ammeter needle should go towards the minus (-) if it goes towards the plus (+) reverse the terminals at ammeter Mal

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Re-fitting the front Windscreen

Hi Stinky, I agree with previous comments. Just had my screens fitted by an experienced installer. He had previously told me to buy the screen rubbers from a well known supplier in Melbourne because their product is local and the best fit. When fitting the front screen he noticed the markings showed it was from a Taiwan manufacturer. He didn't notice if the rear had the same markings. THE REAR WAS A VERY POOR FIT compared to the GMH original fitment. Regards Mal

My computer hasn't been working for a few days, now it is working I was about to write a message with the heading "Another FE on the road" Thanks Craig for your advice and support since I joined the club also thanks to the committee and members of the NSW club. The forum has a wealth of info on it which has been a big help. Still have plenty of work to do chroming, engine and gear box reconditioning etc. I have a few old black and white photos of the car including one when the car was new with me beside it plus restoration progress photos which I will post later

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Door springs
|
on: October 16, 2003, 10:35:26 AM

I purchased a hinge with good springs from Slim.
Punched out rivets carefully and also removed rivets from mine. Used the best rivets to re-assemble mine.
Works good. (They never held on a steep incline when new)
Cheers

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Vinyl Seat Paint
|
on: May 18, 2003, 11:26:27 AM
|
Does anyone know where I can purchase colour matched vinyl paint? (I'm in Sydney).
I've had my front seat retrimmed by an upholsterer, who also colour sprayed the rear seat and squab to match front seat. Looks new but cost heaps.
I would like to paint the door trims to match the fall red and parchment ivory seats

Hi Jim
One speedo was removed from a car that I wrecked 30 years ago. The other has been in my car which hasn,t been driven for 25 years. Both speedos were operating then.
Thanks for your advice
