No Graham, I didn't enter the nationals, I don't think the old girl is in a state for a trip of that length and wasn't even sure if Id get her on the road in time. I hope to be at the next nationals though . I wonder if any of the Queensland club members in Toowoomba recognise the car. It used to bear Qld rego 021 TJG. See you Sunday. Regards Rod.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, she looks a lot rougher up close. Photographs hide a host of sins. So excited to be finally driving her. I think we might even make the Redhill brunch club run this Sunday Dave! Jeeez I hope she makes it to the top!

After purchasing my FC months ago and working on her feverishly to get her registered Id like to show you "Mable". She spent her life in Toowoomba Queensland and will now spend the rest of her life in Canberra ACT. Passed her full registration check yesterday and has a brand new set of numberplates. Thanks to Ken (mcl1959) and Dave (fcute) for all your support, advice assistance and spare parts. I am forever grateful. Regards Rod.

Thanks Zulu, I know there are a lot of people out there with the smiths heaters, how do they direct the heat to the windscreen. (something very important in a cold place like Canberra) There must be a modification out there somewhere?
Regards Rod.

Below Ive attached a pic of two rubbers that attach into a Smiths heater for the ducting. Mine are in pretty poor condition. Does anyone know of a mod or someone who has made up something to replace these rubbers? Regards Rod.

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Car Jack and tool kit October 59 Sedan

Thanks Ken, much appreciated, I note the Jack is a grey colour, is it the same as the engine?
As for the tool kit, Ive never seen anything like them at any of the swap meets I go to, however now I know what I'm looking for i can look harder!
Thanks again Ken. Would the late 59 model FC sedans have the rachet handled jack or the type in the photograph?

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Car Jack and tool kit October 59 Sedan

This subject has probably come up before but I cant find any pictures and without a pic or two I have no idea what I'm looking for. My October 1959 special sedan didn't come with a jack or tool kit. So I am wondering if anyone can show me by pic what should be in the tool kit and what the jack and jacking handle looks like. To locate and purchase the correct items will be my next project.
Look forward to hearing from anyone that can help
Regards
Rod

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner
|

Just a couple of things to note Rod
Late FC came with a dry air cleaner but the clamp was tightened by a slot bolt on the carb horn not a hand tightened rod bolt like later models Ok so my FC is an October 1959 and it has the dry air cleaner which is tightened by a slot bolt on the carb. Could it be that I have the correct air cleaner for the vehicle?? If this is the case I wont put the oil bath on. I want it to be original and as it should be. I really need to know things like this. Do the late models have anything more like the orange rear blinker lenses and the dry air cleaner? I need advice from someone who knows what my late model should and shouldn't have. If anyone out there can give me a steer on these subtle differences I would be very happy. Regards Rod

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Oil Bath Air Cleaner

Hi gents, I have just purchased an oil bath air cleaner for the FC. The old girl came with an EH filter. The thing is the new filter has been sand blasted and I'm not sure what colour it should be. Are the oil bath filters painted grey like the engine or black like the EH Filter? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Getting a workshop manual. My wiper knob is broken, I have two headlight switches and knobs and a choke cable and knob, was wondering if they were interchangeable. Though from your description of the wiper knob id say no. Bugger! Thanks for the advice.

Can anyone tell me how you remove the knobs from the light and wiper switch on the dash. I'm not sure if they screw off or pull off. All I know is I don't want to break one.
