101  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: fuel system on: May 25, 2006, 02:19:34 AM
Leon,
To me the most simplest way to solve your problem would be to get a Holley 4 barrel blower carb. You can source them from places like Rocket Industries and VPW Australia. As the name suggests the carbs are designed to be used on supercharged motors, and are built so they dont lean out yr motor at high revs/boost.

Or you could go for a Demon Blower carb but im not sure as to what sizes these come in...

Another person to have a talk to would be Nigel at Xtreme Fuel Systems. He has now done 5 carbs for us, and have never had any troubles. (plus a heap of guys on here have used him!)

cheers Cool Cool Cool

One of the superchargers would fit (possible slight modification to drivers side skirt) but bear in mind that its a blow through system, and they dont work aswell as youd think on a virtually standard motor.

And both Melbourne cars Grin

That blue one was once owned by a fellow forum member (goes by the name Air Chief). It then was sold to another bloke, who picked it up, and took take it to bendigo swapmeet the next day, attempting to double his money(was asking $6800). Dont know what the deal is with it being up for sale again though.

Is a very good car though, would come up very very nice once it gets into the right hands! Cool Cool

111  General / General Board / Re: Why are FC's So sort after ??? on: May 18, 2006, 02:35:27 AM
The horn buttons are so expensive compared to FJ ones because good fj ones are easy to come by, fe fc ones are usually rooted hence the reason people are bidding $300+. got me stumped though, parts have rocketed in the last 12 or so months  Shocked

T5: Tremec 5 speed. Pretty sure they were fitted from vk upwards, where as the borg warner was a toyota box.

The borg warner tranny's have a borg warner tag riveted to them.

the T5 is quite a strong box, never had any troubles with the couple that we've had, and they did cop a bit too...

120  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: VT V6 engine swap, Worth while??? on: May 09, 2006, 11:46:20 AM
I actually have something to say on the subject (as usual... Shocked )..

I have toyed with the idea of having a full chassis for a while, i have quite a lot of info and research on this but it has taken forever to do so i am not really willing to give out any models.

To begin with i went to the wreckers and measured up a ton of cars, most of which were holdens/toyota's and a couple of other models. I found quite a good fit with a certain toyota chassis, it had the perfect wheelbase, and the correct width. But i had a thought. This seems to easy? so i had a talk to some of the guys in our other club and i found out something i didnt really ever think of. This was that the chassis i found was from a 1990's toyota, if we were to go ahead with the build in the end we would have to fit all the pollution gear that was fitted to the toyota, something that we really didnt want to do. So the hunt was on once again, to find a chassis that was the right width, had the correct wheelbase, and was old enough to not have any polution gear added.

After a while, (on my holidays mind you) i found one. The problem now was the car was so old that all of the suspension and stuff really wasnt that great, which kind of took the hole point out of doing it. After this we kinda gave up, until having a chat to a guy who works at TopRodz (they do heavy chassis construction) . He told me that he could take the older chassis, fit independant suspension all round with a decent 4 bar rear and it would be a good fit into an fc. This sounded all good, but the end price of doing it was something like $5700.

Then you add that price to everything else you would need for a v8 conversion, and the car will owe you $30000+++, quite a lot for an FC   Embarrassed  Although if somebody went ahead with something like this, they would own one radical FC (Harko... Tongue ). ohh and it gets better, if you channelled the body enough you could get it on the ground with some bags... mmmm its nice to dream Cool Cool Cool Cool
