No real trick to it, open the vent and undo/remove the pivot screw from the vent lever (flat tip screwdriver) then unscrew the connecting rod from the vent (count the number of turns to undo, this will assist when installing). Once the connecting rod is removed, from memory, there are four mounting screws (two on each side) up under the dash securing the pivot mounts.
