Title: seat mounting bracket spacers
Post by: Roybeth on May 08, 2020, 09:02:16 PM
Hi All

I've read some posts and am still unclear as to if the seat mounting bracket spacers came with the cars originally or were they something put in later - and what they are actually for.

TIA

Originally an accessory to adjust the seat height. Became universally popular and by EK were virtually standard dealer upgrade.

Thanks - just wasn't sure if I needed them - though I will see once the seat is back in and I start driving her if I will need the seat raised or not.  ;D

Pete Mallaby makes a great set of the spacers.

In our pano I used the fronts but left the back ones out as it gives the seat a bit of lay back

In the earlier FE's they were made from wood, which we're a little sturdier than the plastic

I used a crumbling plastic one as a template to make some from a poly??? bread board. I needed a couple of layers glued together to make up the height so stacked 8 pieces, drilled & bolted them together before cutting out to shape. It was a little time consuming but worth the effort I thought. Had they been available from Pete back them I may have opted to save myself the time. His products are very good.

My FE had its original wood spacers that had split. The aluminium ones I purchased from Pete were great. Installed without any issues. Recommend!
Cheers, Ken  :)

Yes I have a set of black Polly ones from Pete as well. I was going to use just the front ones in my FB ute, but when I trial fitted, found that the seat would only slide back to the third last hole due to touching the parcel shelf.
