Title: Carpet / underlay / sound deadener sheets
Post by: Dave Lakin (Davo Lako) on June 29, 2017, 01:02:34 PM
Recommencing installation of interior .. What are best options before fitting the new fitted carpet ?

Are members using sound deadening sheets, and if so, what type/ brand is recommended ?

...and as to underlay , what is recommended ?  I still have my old original fibre underlay ... what are members using ?

Are members using sound deadening sheets AS WELL AS underlay ?

Comments and advice appreciated ... Cheers, Davo.

I'm planning on putting Dynamat down and then carpet over that!
Well that's the plan at this stage

I picked up dynomat on a good sale. Have see cheaper options. My father used a sound deadiner mat that is used in the walls of your house.

I used Dynamat under rubber floor mats & on the underside of the roof a couple of years ago.
The most competitive deal I found was on on eBay at the time.
I have nothing to compare with but it sticks like nothing else & does what it claims in my opinion.
A hand made roller worked fine to apply the sheets.

The below is from eBay currently.

Thank you gentlemen ... I guess no underlay is necessary then ?

I didn't use underlay with the rubber mats but imagine people using carpet could.
