Title: front coil springs V6
Post by: freddyc on March 29, 2017, 04:33:14 PM
I have a V6 in my FC. the front end is HR with 2 inch drop spindles. I am running 15 inch commodore rims. From centre of stub to guard is 265mm. I think the springs I used are also 2 inch lowered. Fulcram told me a std hr spring will lift it 40mm. I am worried about the extra weight of the engine. Should I go heavy duty springs std height?

I'm running a HR front end in my EK wagon, with the CRS standard height spindles and 15" Commodore wheels. The original grey weighed some 170kg, whilst my iron-headed SBC will weigh approximately 350kg. A typical Commodore V6 is around the 200kg mark with all the fruit on it and fluids.

I'm running the standard HR springs, and the ride height looks good with the Chev installed.

Cheers,
Harv

Hi Freddy
I have CRS drop spindles on the front of my sedan and was running 2 inch heavy duty lowered spring, 15"rims.
When I went to get the engineer to come I could see that underneath the HR x member I was not at minimum height (100mm).
I went back to standard HR springs and all is good still has nice lower height in front.
When I went to take it over the pits to get rego I had to get it weighed and with the mods it was only 1200kgs all up.
Hope that helps
Regards
Neil H

Do they look like they've been cut?

springs are sorted now, ended up with HG V8 springs. Ride might be a bit rough but ride height is right.
