Wheels off already, mate I would be driving that old girl everywhere first, seen as though all the others are in various stages of rebuild.

Once again Pete, I am in a fit of envy over your collection.

Enjoy it all, you have worked hard to get it all.

Do you ever get time to fly the planes Pete?

I sold a few off had 30 odd.  A lot of the bigger 80 90 inch wingspan ones were hard to transport.

I still go out once a month  mainly fly electric now for ease but still have a supercharged 4 stroke in a big spitfire and several other 4 strokes and a few 2 strokes.

I sold recently a 80 inch wingspan decathalon with a 26cc zenoah lovelly plane..

I have a pretty good boat collection too really like 40s and 50s pleasure craft and im right into brushless motors and lipo batterys so my old vic smeed huntsman has a big brushless outrunner with water cooled speedy its def a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Also have a few brushless race boats but dont get much time for them.
Having 3 daughters i have to take a boat they can put their dolls onto lol

Sweet ride Pete, the van would look just as good behind the wagon. I'm looking at the PW100 rims for mine(not sure about painted or polished centres yet) what offset did you get on the rims? they look like a snug fit in the guards.

Hi Jim only just seen your reply.
They were just the ones listed we worked out the offset and the face is the same as standard the offset is all inwards.
But in saying that they are a little bit more outwards than standard for some reason.
Its very low nearlly on the bump stops in the front and does not rub.
I hit a pretty large bump with some gear and my daughter in the back and heard it scrub once.
Tyres are Falken 205/50/15

Been fixing a few things that i didnt want to have to fix.
Alternator died yesterday so replaced that with a mini unit but its still doing some weird electrical things so will replace the battery today.
Brakes squeal like i have never heard before pulled them apart there must be a tube of red anti squeal on the pads also there was fibre tape on the back of the brake pads so its done it for a while i pressume.
Discs look a little glazed so will get them skimmed and fit new soft pads.
Back into the FE this week try get the fuel lines fitted.

Sure do works so good i have re done all my badges on the cars using a ultra fine needle ..

$2 for 10 needles  you need to use enamel i got sample pots from supercheap  so thin it out in a small cup i use model plane epoxy cups cos i had them and pull the centre of the needle out and tip some in.

Now this is what my business is based on engraving so i have been doing it a while but cheap shit enamel seems to stick the best we normally use hichem stuff but whatever u can get..
we do it another way without the needles thats top secret witch craft tho.. ;D

Happy easter to you too.

I have allready been warned of world war 3 if i pull anything off it..

SO i have another set of wagon springs to have re set and i have another centre so should be able to change it over in under an hour without her knowing.

I have to remove the residual valve from the circuit because it had a stock fc diff with disc front end now im running lj wheel cylinders it will not need it.

We are off to a family doo as well but i snuck out earlly and made the brake lines and fitted the brake line tabs.

One thing i would check is the face of your banjo i knocked all the studs out and gave it a good clean with a fresh ceramic disc and a hard backing pad was very uneven i would say thats why it leaked . also it was weeping oil and the seam and one axle tube had a weird hole i filled.
So the powder coat should seal everything up on all the seams ect.

should look neat.

Sorry Pete you lost me with the ceramic disc, can you give me a little more on the info.  I get what you trying to do with making sure that the surface is level. But i have never heard of ceramic disc. Whats it look like and what does it do to the metal , Does it perform more of fine grind then a harsh metal grind...??  Also does it cover the entire area which comes in contact with the diff center. ???

Some days I wish I was that little apprentice in you control, asking all the stupid questions. Would be lapping it up like a dog..   ;D

Just a good new soft pad will do check it out first yours may be fine and you use gasket glue anyway so should be fine.
We run a new disc at work looks like a soft pad but they are ceramic coated not glass so dont get hot and cut metal awesome they are called Pferd kombi clicks we use hundreds a month we do not use hard disc wheels anymore these superseed them.

Ah more wasted time on the wagon.
I had a weird temp spike coming up the freeway a few weeks ago and i knew it was the radiator.
Closer inspection all the cores were blocked.
So i ordered a pwr radiator by the time they added their packing fee box fee and i ordered a thermo fan with it by the time i got the invoice it was 1300 dollars
270 bucks for a thermo fan but the mounts suited their fan so i reluctantly orderd it.
What i didnt realise was the lower neck was larger for a red motor and it was heaps thicker so it did not clear the waterpump.
So my hands were tied could not send it back so what else do you do but cut up a 1300  dollar radiator.

I have all the neck swaging tools and make customer intercoolers so next time i will order a core and make my own.
So i countersunk water pump bolts
Ground snout of pump flush
New mounts
Reccessed lower tank 15x15mm to get the bottom to go in.
Now i dont know what people do for upper hose but im going to cut a 6mm thermostat housing spacer so i can turn the upper housing around as its hard on the rocker cover and no room for a hose to go on.
Then my adjustable thermo switch died as the probe jammed in the thermostat nearlly cooking the engine.
So i fitted a new 190deg switch to block and tapped out the heater tube pipe for the temp guage.
1 saturday lost but a happy engine now.
Heater core was full of mud and so was block 2 hrs of back flushing I hope its clean.

I don't normally like to comment on builds, but I love reading your updates Pete. You get done in one afternoon what would take a lot us weeks to get done and it's all top notch.

It was keeping me from sleeping worrying about it so started work at 4am to cut new tabs and bits then took it hoome and welded it all up finished running by 10am..

I ordered a TFS111 switch for the thermos but its got a 160 thermostat and its getting too hot for my liking seems to switch around 200 for some reason so i ordered a TFS 110 and that switches at 180 deg see how that goes

But they have drilled the flange out to suit bigger diameter studs/nuts mine only just fit now if u get me so mine use a 19mm socket they will be 21mm wont get that in there

Pete;
Blacky on the FB EK forum tells me that you can get wheel studs that have a larger diameter spline area for pushing into the flange but maintaining the original thread diameter???????????? I don't know where you can get them but he said that he has used them.

May solve the issue with the VPW axles

Hi Pete   Have a look at this listing I see there is a LC axle in the pile of bits might be worth looking into.   ebay ($2)

Finished the wagon last night .

So things I have found doing a LJ torana diff conversion.
LJ axles are left and rh sided ? only a few mm in it but enough to upset the planetry gears  I thought they were universal.
Handbrake cable was another one. I went to chop the ends off a HR cable and adapt to the FC cable then I did a ebay search and they make them to suit the conversion  for $120 so that fixed that.
I knocked out the studs on the housing and gave the face a quick hit  with a ceramic combi click disc as it had some rather large lumps from having a heap of centres over tightened.
I put new copper washers onto the studs with some sealer before pulling the studs back in.
If using nolethane spring insulators they are wider to suit EH hr style springs so need a groove die ground into it so the u bolts can slip past them.
I am having a custom made rear hose made today but a HR one should work fine.

The tyres tuck in really nice now only around 15mm inside clerance either side.
If they rub i will go longer studs with spacers to get them sitting perfect.

Well i took the wagon for a run and it rubbed.
So i found that trailer studs at the local parts shop are perfect about 15mm longer i did have to redrill the flanges to 14mm then i made a brass spacer with a chamfer so when i rattle the studs in they pulled straight.
perfect nice and tight then i cut 2 6mm spacers on the water jet in aluminium  there is still a bit of axle sticking thru the alloy spacer.

Took it for a run beutiful quiet as very happy..

now to wire up the brake controller and trailer plug.

All finished.
Took friday off to fit new towbar and tongue which i made and had powdercoated. (Half original towbar half new)
Wire in new  trailer plug with braided line and sealed gland nut.
Wire in redarc brake controller.
Rip dash cluster out and re wire the birds nest so it actually looks half tidy.
After towing the van to its first show i was pleased i only heard to tyre touch once when i hit a large bump and took out top display.
Only 1 dampener for the day a lady tried ripping the door off the van saying it doesnt even open i said its locked to keep people like you out.

Yep unless you're there with it it's best to keep it locked, when we had our van at Motorfest a few years ago I got an angry "excuse me I was here first" from a lady while I was trying to get into it to get a beer out of the ice box!

I think you had better step away from the spanners & go on a holiday now

The ute pics are here http://forum.fefcholden.club/index.php?topic=22469.760

Wheels are from the states. Very heavy but cool 17x7 and 17x8 Vintiques.

On another subject

A lesson learnt on the weekend. I have been having issues with a gutless red motor.
Really underpowered to what i was expecting turns out the front carby was not working due to a slipping linkage also whoever made the throttle linkage had messed up changing the pivot point so it was only getting half throttle. Also the accelerator pedal had a lot of slop in it. After fixing all these problems she is now a thoroughbred totally different car i am quietly confident it would even spin the wheels now.

Ready for its big trip friday out west towing the van so we will see how it goes.

Well i made the annual trip to mendooran .
Head on into a 50kmh westerly.
The poor old girl got buffeted pretty bad the wind was relentless throwing the van and wagon around.
Glad i have electric brakes to straighten her up.
Its 6.30 am freezing cold flogging down rain and the wind has started to howl.
The little van is very comfy and annexe has not pooled with water.

is your one from the Stainless Steel bloke that remakes them?

Pipe bender looks simple. I've got the same flaring tool. Very effective. Done my brake and fuel lines bent using dowel and vice jaws and not entirely happy with some of the tighter bends, particularly the fuel line near the tank which I all but crimped.

Another problem i have encountered is the clutch line hit the subframe rail so i changed out to   a banjo style 90 deg hose .
Tracked down a 7/16 unf blanking grub screw to block rear outlet off.
Also bought a massive turbo off a mate for another project.
Dont buy stuff drunk lol.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/143570670e89556e1d9354d009884ff7.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/af6528c074949af7600003cb5cf7917c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/4d9c61d4e958ba5db726204936a4c6d3.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/0ab19ef9ee5303caaa19717b581483b3.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/ffb66a4760641f4f84a1f70355d889fe.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/e9f54c43eb843d56568b9202450ee68b.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191226/2994fee61586e5829770dffc26751274.jpg)
