Hi Steve,
One of our members had a sample at the VIC meeting last month.
We have not yet seen them on a door so can't comment about fit especially as each door is different.
They look a reasonable reproduction although personally I would take some time dressing down some sharp edges if the sample is a guide.
They appear to be pressed in stainless steel so if you could polish them up if you wanted to.

Sam Crupi in Shepparton is making them and I believe they are $250 for a set of 4 - his mobile number is zero 4 zero 8 228 379.
Cheers,
Trevor_B

The sharpness of the pressing is not as good as the originals, which are made of brass.

Sorry for advance for digging up an old topic, but it has some of the relevant info on it.

I have completed a restoration on an EK ute for my daughter Grace. I know it's not an FE/FC, and beg your forgiveness  ;D. I promise to explain to Grace the ways in which FB/EKs are different (albeit inferior) to FE/FCs  :D.

I have been keeping an eye out for a while for a set of scratch plates for the ute - one LF, one RF. I suspect that this will be a loooooong search, other than finding a set of four and on-selling the LR and RR ones. Not sure my conscience would let me break up a set of four. I'm not fussy if the centres of the plates are frosted or not.

Any-hoo, from this thread I understand that someone is making repro scratch plates. From some other posts, I think there are two different guys making them - Sam Crupi, and someone else. One of the guys is making stainless repros, and one is making chrome-plated brass. Not sure who is doing what, or even if they are still available.

Has anyone bought repro scratch plates in recent years, and if so what was the quality like? I have bought Sam's gear before, and have always been impressed with the quality (and Sam's service for that matter). Though I would check here before disturbing Sam with a random phone call.

Cheers,
Harv

Harv. the repro scratch plates in my opinion look like repros ,the quality is not there ,I admire the effort ,but maybe I expect too much . ;)

I have brought a set of reproduction from Sam the guy in Shepparton which are the stainless type they seem fine to me but I don't have original to compare with. Maybe the purist will see the difference but I am happy with them.

Many thanks for the feedback gents - appreciated.

I called Sam and placed an order. $150 for two scratch plates to suit a ute/van.

He also does $300 for four scratch plates to suit a sedan/wagon.

Will post results here once I receive them, then stash them away for Grace's Christmas present. :shh:

Cheers,
Harv

I got apair for my FB ute. They took ages waiting to accumulate sufficient orders but yes I'm happy with them. They look the goods and have the door letters stamped on the tabs per original nasco.
