Title: Rust panels, doors , sills etc
Post by: 53vicky on January 21, 2014, 12:31:40 PM
Hi All,
New to this forum and would like some info on sedan & utes.
I have recently purchased a FE ute resto project and needs the usual floors , A pillar lowers
sills and some body reinf.
Rear floors, tub area is great but just need a little info on the panels that are available.
Have looked through the forum and see the the Rare spares new sills are the better option.
- Are the doors on utes the same in the lower section? The glass frame is different but I presume
the length of the door is the same?
- Are the rare spares sills for sedan still usable for utes? Same wheel base?
- Is there any A Pillar patch panels on the market?"
Forum looks very informative............cheers

53Vicky, all front doors are the same lower section. Only the top of the ute is different as you say.
The sills are the same also across all models. the rear quarter of the ute is spot welded directly to the sill panel so it can be difficult to remove the sill if you want to keep the complete rear quarter in place. usually the rear quarter has some rust so a new lower skin can be installed.
Unfortunately there are no A pillar repair panels - these have to be carefully made as you go. You will usually have to repair the inner sill front section where it bolts to the subframe as well.
There are lots of good threads showing pictures of these repairs in other sections of the forum.
