This was an original accessory that fits around the fuel inlet to prevent fuel spilling on to the paintwork. You used to be able to get a stainless steel doover that closely resembles the original (take picture or sketch) the only catch is that the inside diameter will probably be too small & have to be cut to suit. I have an original if you want to borrow it to show to the suppliers.

The one i'm thinking of is based in Shepparton Vic. Hes a member of the FB/EK club and makes a fair bit of repo stuff. Could be the same guy who makes the mudflap brackets.
