Always nice to see another custom FE FC on the road, looks like you have made a great start.
Some cool mods going on.
I made the same mods to my taillight housings.
Looking forward to see that plate set up complete.
What plans for the grill?
Regards
Alex

Mocked up number plate today
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/CAR005.jpg)
It is attached using a hinge and covers a stainless recess plate that I removed a chromed fuel flap from.I modified the stainless plate to fit an original rubber grommet, so here it is with an original fuel cap
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/CAR004.jpg)
Had to remove the mount for the bootlid catch so I could attach part of the original body metal (from where the stock fuel cap was)to the inside of the frenched plate in order to mount the stainless recess plate, phew! Then reattached mount.Have also drilled holes to mount a strip of 3 leds above number plate.

Nice progress.
So white is the colour of choice.
Will it be all white or have a contrast colour somewhere?

Alex, yeah it's white all over with thin some scallops-not sure what colour yet! I'm using this for inspiration for scallops.

Love the back green on the wheels.
Are they the ones off a wagon that was on ebay ???
Looking really good keep the photos coming.

Post by: ekute on May 29, 2013, 09:18:51 PM
The wheels are a set of HR ones I had lying around which I hit with rattle can paint and put on my ute for the All Holden day about 4 years ago!

I'll try to keep photos coming, not real good with the camera it usually goes on holidays with me-for the ride only!

I have bought a set of 5 seatbelts from CIP1, a US VW supplier.Landed cost around $300. They are grey and have chromed metal buckles. I think I will install plates in b pillars but not put the belts in till after rego because they don' have ADR compliance. I still think non complying belts sensibly installed by me would be better than none!

Was the bonnet already fluted or did you get it done? And by whom?

Keep up the great work!

I have a louvred bonnet for sale if any one wants one im not a fan of them.
(sitting on a louvre machine for weeks on end as an apprentice made me hate them)

Put bootlid on and because it has been shaved I need to open it somehow so I rigged up a release cable-note the very common headsaver bootlid stay
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/0022_zps71433a2a.jpg) ($2)
which ends up here next to drivers seat-can only just see it! oh yeah and stuck a bit of dynamat around
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/0032_zps8896c89a.jpg) ($2)
I sprayed old sump oil inside the sills, the upper dash/firewall corners at the base of the a pillars and in the cavity between the rear wheelwells and the 3/4 panels-a good no smell alternative to fishoil!Just gotta let the excess oil drain out.

I dig a simple no frills custom. Look's neat.

Title: Re: FE mild custom
Post by: fe350chev on July 30, 2013, 08:28:55 PM
I think simplicity is the key with an FE, they seem to look better with less chrome (or at least no more added) and the one colour (or a subtle contrast) and I think the shape is so good with it's slightly more reserved pommy looking front, it is old school cool as long as you don't overdo it. That's just my opinion.  :). See how the frenched lights make the bumper contrast more, you would even get a very clean looking car with the bumpers painted, cos then it looks a bit more intended (In relation to the lights), but hard for me to comment cos they always look different in real life.

Nearly there now! Just need to instal headliner and windscreens then rego.

Here's the result of what I did with $50 and this afternoon, towel rail tube grille! Somewhere to hang towels at the beach

(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/IMAG0023_zpsbf95e947.jpg) ($2)

A couple more shots

(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/IMAG0022_zps77f3e9b4.jpg) ($2)

(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/ekv8ute/IMAG0024_zps6d7b34a2.jpg) ($2)

Just need a pair of decent grille surrounds now!

Post by: ekute on May 28, 2014, 06:26:27 PM
Screens in today- the list is getting smaller!

Just need to fit exhaust, get it to idle, fit some decent wipers and then rego! Wooho...Oh and fit another grille surround when I get it!

With the frenched head and tail/lights,i like the grill without the surround, maybe a u,shaped [chrome]trim to go around the lip ,just a thought,Gaz! :-\

Agree with you fink - it looks much better without the bulky surround.  Overall, a really cool looking mild custom, I love it.  Cheers, Graeme

Still a few things to sort properly but will be driving great when carbs sorted! Runs well now with good power just need a little bit more time.

Thanks John.

When I got my blueslip I looked at the purchase receipt and it was dated Oct 2007-it only took about 5 years too long!

Can't believe my luck with the plates, put them on hold late Jan this year.

I've been off the forum for a bit but am glad to see your finished product. It definitely doesn't take wild mods to truly make it unique. Your definitely has a different presence about it. Good to see another finished car.

Cheers

Installed this grille today, made from EH bumper over riders, has a more chunky and old school custom look compared to the tube grille
