Title: Location, Location, Location
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on October 26, 2009, 08:56:42 PM
The most asked question on this forum would have to be - "Where are you located?"

The simple fix to this (there are some of us outside NSW you know :P ) is to add your Suburb/Town and State to your "Personal Text" or "Signature" in your profile.

If you are struggling and need help send me a PM and will gladly make the changes for you  ;)

Stinky

What do you reckon we run this one again as there are a lot of members who are homeless i.e no location on their profile.

Always helps when buying, selling or mailing information requested.

Cheers

You can lead a person to a forum but you can't make them put in the details  :P

Maybe this will make it easier?

Go to this page - http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=18;sa=forumProfile

Then write in your location like this -

An Error Has Occurred!

You are not permitted to modify profile settings.

Link for mods only maybe?

Paul,

The link you want is here: http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php?action=profile and then click on "Forum Profile Information" on the left hand side.

I've got the same problem as Glenn - I can't generate the link a regular user would see, because I'm an admin.

If you fill in location in your profile info, there is a space for it already.
Only a click away.
I would like to see people signing off with their real name rather than their board name.
Hard to have a conversation with a guy called 'FE with big donk' or something equally obscure.
Regards
Alex

I would have to agree with the first name option.

The first name added does personalise it a little expecially when exchanging information for parts etc.

Cheers

Top Idea, BUT.......
Have you noticed how many GAZs, GAZZAs, GARYs, and GARRYs there are on the forum?
It almost seems you have to be one of us to own an FE or FC.
Our parents must have been an unimaginative lot!
Cheers,
GAZ  (really!)

(With apologies to all the non-Gazzas)

I've seen on another forum where they list all the States, Territories plus a Overseas section then you put your details in e.g. Petrolhead, Baldivis in the W.A. section that way any other people from W.A. know where you are so that you can contact each other if need be

Dunno about that, are you a bigger Gaz than me? (6'1"  18 stone.) [185 cm, 115 kg]

Anyhoo, I think I'll be Ol'Gaz, cause I don't think there's many Gaz's older than me on the forum. (apologies if there are)

Ol'Gaz

I'll try to add a location in my profile tomorrow. I want to know how to add signature though.

Hit Profile tab to view profile page, under 'Modify Profile' on the left select 'Forum Profile Information', text box for signature is near the bottom of the page.

Can you make it as must fill when you register that you must put the state and town in. It is so frustrating when you want to help someone and you don't because you don't know where they are  or the first thing you ask is where are you ???. Like a lot of members on here we are here to HELP but we don't  Because they don't put a ruff description of where the are. IT"S NOT THAT HARD

My ramp is over
