Title: 1956 Olympic Torch Route Map
Post by: dnb on June 16, 2008, 05:52:30 PM
Here are a couple of photos of a route map for the 1956 Olympic Games torch relay.
I was told they were only issued to dealers on the actual route but not sure of this..
For some reason I can't get the first pis the right way up, it looks right in Photo Bucket but keeps turning around when I put it here...
Torch was expected to arrive in Melbourne at 4.32 PM on the 22nd November 1956 after traveling from Cairns, a distance of approx 2750 miles. The black dots are the Holden dealers. I'm going to try to do some pics of the Eastern states individually to see if I can get a bit more detail.
This is the same map I asked a question about awhile back but I wasn't smart enough to post photos..

Cool bit of history.
Map looks in fairly good order for it's age.
Congrats on the score.
