Title: Inlet Port Guides
Post by: Rod on June 13, 2006, 10:19:17 PM
High All,

I have a grey head with minor port work. My question is "Should the Inlet Port Guides be matched to the port and manifold?" Currently the guide is slightly raised and not matched with the port work. Would this disrupt the flow hence effect performance??

As a side issue is it important to match the exhaust port to manifold?

Cheers

Rod

usually its a standard procedure if you port the head, you do the inlet to match, and usually if youve got a worked motor you wouldnt be running your exhaust manifold... :o  ;)

But, yes. Match the exhaust port to manifold.

theres two train of thoughts on this ,ive read numerous articles that say to portmatch with a small difference in size so it promotes some turbulance which apparently helps ,dont remember where i last read this but probably in streetmachine artical.
