Title: door jambs and hinges painting procedure
Post by: fccool59 on April 29, 2006, 06:03:04 AM
with fingers crossed for a dry weekend i will be priming and painting a bunch of parts over the weekend, I want coverage all over and behind the hinges as well as the screws and bolts.
What is the usual procedure here?, should i colour the hinges this weekend and scuff em up for a final coat later when the doors are fitted or is there a better way?
PS. I have decided to go 2k with the door jambs.

In my opinion its best to get the least amount of paint as posible on bolts/screws, as you will find it chips off.

I would say get everything primed up ready for top coat then bolt on hinges and everything, allign all the doors so gaps are best as possible, then remove the doors, tighten the hinge bolts then paint on top coat and clear. (so that the paint is fresh, no chips/marks etc)

Ofcourse somebody else might have a better idea....
