Russ,

If you look at the online shop part of the Rare Spares website and navigate to the parts lists for any of the FX to EK Holden's and look in the "GEARBOX KITS & GASKETS" section you'll find a gearbox overhaul kit for $118.81. It appears to include all bearings, gaskets, welch plugs and circlips.

I've never used one so I can't recommend it or comment on it but I'll probably be purchasing one in the next 12 months so I'd be interested to hear any comments on them or other kits too.

Hi Russ,
Usually the rear bearing goes on grey gear boxes.
In late 2004 I purchased a kit from American Autos (Rares stockist) in Sydney part no. 7430864.
The kit had all the usual parts needed but the rear bearing was a single row.
I purchased the larger bearing from a bearing stockist.
When the cars were fairly new the rear bearing was their downfall.
They had provision for the larger bearing with an extra circlip groove on the mainshaft.
I think GMH started fitting the double row bearing to the FBs.
Regards Mal.
