Post by: TorqueFC on March 08, 2006, 07:25:23 AM
what tail shaft should be used in an fe fc with a hr diff and an aussie 4sp?

im sure i was told to use the hr one (the hr one we have is out of a hr wagon with aussie 4sp and hr diff), of which is approx 1" shorter than the original ute one. does this sound right?

Darcy
if it is one inch shorter it should be fine as long as the yoke slips into back of box by enough that when rear end is at full spring travel you still have at least an inch still inside gearbox extension housing,

Hi Guys.

The tailshaft to use for an Aussie 4-speed in an FE/FC/FB/EK is an EK auto one. Just change the yoke, it has different splines.

The same length tailshaft is used for, 3 & 4-speed Aussie boxes, Hydra-Matic, Powerglide & Tri-Matic. They all use the same yoke except for the Hydra-Matic.

Dr Terry.
