Title: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: craiga on January 23, 2006, 07:58:10 AM ePay comes up trumps again. All the rare stuff ends up there
(http://tinypic.com/mbswlw.jpg) WTF, I thought they only made Canadian blocks for grey motors ;D ;D ;D ;D Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: JB on January 23, 2006, 09:58:44 AM Here we go again... ;D
Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: graham_fuller on January 23, 2006, 10:49:43 AM I know this is a risk,I spoke to an old guy on Saturday who swore black and blue that some of the early 48's definately came with Canadian blocks with more metal between the water jackets and cylinder bores, so they were good for high performance.Well for a grey that is.
Cheers, Graham Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: nicko on January 23, 2006, 11:22:07 AM dont bother Graham,
if its not in a certain book then its a myth . hahaha Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: fccool59 on January 23, 2006, 11:39:24 AM sooner or later someone has to submit the grey canadian myth to mythbusters.
everyone used to have a hot canadian grey, now we find out they never existed. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: 4hammers on January 23, 2006, 01:49:10 PM Like I said, Guys. If someone can PROVE they existed & present me with a REAL Canadian block, I will give that person a $5000 reward! :o
Proving doesn't mean knowing an old fella who USED to have one. Gurus have proved it was a myth, Holden said they never existed, the misconceptions to how the original idea of a "Canadian Grey" have been talked about & we know where the mistaken idea came from. But up to this point, I have not ONE shred of evidence (Apart from about 3,000 "Old Guys" who used to have one) to prove they did exist. ACE, my friend, where are you? What are your thoughts on this ;D Rob J Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: craiga on January 23, 2006, 10:11:18 PM But this is a RED motor Canadian block. It must be because it says so on ePay.
(http://i5.ebayimg.com/02/i/06/0b/d6/45_12_sb.JPG) Check it out - http://tinyurl.com/b7v2o These are even rarer than the thick walled Canadian Greys fitted to early FE's, the ones with the gold horn buttons. ;D Sorry, I didn't mean to start off the Canadian grey thing again, I just thought it was pretty funny that now a Canadian red had turned up. Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: 4hammers on January 23, 2006, 10:35:43 PM Ahhhh, yes.
That one IS a Canadian block, Craig. You can tell the red motor Canadians, because they painted those ones red, the colour that the Maple leaf on the Canadian flag is & Red is also a Canadians favourite colour...................ALL TRUE, An "Old Guy" told me! ;) Rob J p.s. You can also see the sheen it has on the block, that is from the Maple Strup they use the lubricate the motors. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: COL58FE on January 24, 2006, 06:11:42 AM i thought it was the chain engine mount's for all that extra POWER!!!. :P
Hmmmmm ::) Col. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: fccool59 on January 24, 2006, 11:37:39 AM new looking holley & manifold, newish looking alternator, extractors, 2bbl manifold, chrome engine mount plates, chrome rocker cover, braided hose, most probably a steel crank, wonder whats inside, it could be a alright deal for $350, even if its made by australians.
shame it doesnt have a real hp sump. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: FC58q on January 24, 2006, 12:21:38 PM yeh
look how many canadian mounty jackets that had to be washed to get enough dye to put in the paint making it that colour. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: 4hammers on January 24, 2006, 12:34:36 PM YES!!
FC58q, thanks for providing more conclusive proof that the Canadian does exist! Red jacket, Red block, UNDENIABLE!! By chance, are you an "Old Fella"? ;) Rob J Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: Sarge on January 24, 2006, 09:22:47 PM Ah see we have yet again hit on 4Hammer's favourite topic, Rob have you got any conclusive evidence that they don’t exist or is it just a old bloke told you so ;D
Now Hammer just take a deep breath my friend. You never know they could just be out there. ;) Next we search for the Canadian 253 block or may be 308 Cheers Sarge Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: nicko on January 24, 2006, 09:45:36 PM Hey Graham,
now you see why i said dont bother ,the experts who use Holden records (joke books) anyone who knows will tell you how useless they are compared to Ford Australia for example, and expertly written books from dare i say it (Holden Records)hahaha lol.and old blokes memories(yes the other old blokes who's word is gospel)because they worked on Holdens assembly line or were sales reps for Holden dealer in 1957,(yes they must be experts) of course guys who invented such things as crank supports or what have you and could get grey motors (always 2plug water jacket)blocks to rev past 6000rpm on track and referred to them as Canadian Blocks must all be old fools according to Rob and a few others, if you speak to any of the old racers they refer to grey 2 plug blocks as having truer alignment of bores with near no core shift and thicker steel to allow big bores ,.but ask rob and craig they will set you straight.(lol) as when it suits they are all either old experts or old fools, so much for fair play in the records or memories stakes. Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: Ed on January 24, 2006, 10:11:25 PM let's not start this bullshit again :-/
Title: Re: Red Motor Canadian Block Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on January 24, 2006, 10:41:11 PM I agree, lets not.
Time and place for everything, this is neither. Nicko, put up or shut up, show the proof and we will believe. You want to spray people any more go to the rants section or another board altogether >:( |
