In all seriousness, apart from this unit, what else is required to get a car airconditioned?
eg compressor etc, etc and what is recommended to use with the Heater A/C in red motored FE/FC?

All sounds good but I have a couple of questions :

Where abouts does the new engine/compressor  bracket bolt to?
Is there enough room to fit without modifying the front rail?
Is there a suitable double row crankshaft pulley for the alternator and compressor belts, or do they both run on the one longer V-belt?

thanks.

Comes with Aftermarket crank and water pump pulleys, which bolt on in the kit .  here is a pic of the engine bracket and confirm mounting points, should be ok in an EK as the motor sits high and the comp mounts low under the exhaust manifold on the passenger side.

Sorry, there's no piccie there to be seen.

Another question, I am at the end (I hope) of my build and funds are tight. Are there replacements to the expensive parts that can be bought from a wreckers? Eg the $172 engine bracket, compressor and condensor?

the problem is that yes you can buy stuff from the wreckers ,but the systems could be stuff internally

surely the wreckers will have pulley's hoses, and brackets plus compresser a lot cheaper and in good condition
as when we ad your under dash unit we are heading very close to $2000 just for air con in our cars.,

if you included some one to make up the a/c hoses and gas (r134a ) the systems up ,this can be achieve for less the $1500.00 if you install the rest of the gear which is listed above .

any other question ,feel free to ask

i have completed this task on a couple of times

Hello,

Have you got brackets to suit Holden V8 (308). also can you show pics of the mount position.  Preferably a high mount.

Can a condensor be mounted under a car floor at a slight angle using it's own dedicated thermo fan?

Cheers

Ed

yes you can mount it but i wouln't reckon it would last too long .
:-X
why do you want to mount it there ,where you can mount is the front of the radiator ??

are you worry about ari flow ??

HI,

Im worried about compromising the radiator effectiveness.  A Condensor in front will probably drop it's cooling efficiency by about 15%.  Although it is a 4 row the fairly restricted grille opening and shape of lower radiator panel doesnt help cooling either.

Hence an underfloor mounted condensor.  the car probably wont see many dirt or gravel roads..

It's oustide the square for some, but not impossible given thought.

I may consult the experts at "Windows down"

Cheers

Ed
