Title: Column mounted high beam switch
Post by: blacky on November 12, 2005, 01:19:45 PM
Has anyone managed to successfully fit a high/ low beam switch to a standard column ?
I would like to get rid of the floor mounted dip switch but keep the original look.
Also , I just got a 2 speed wiper motor from Ken , what switch is the best to use ? ? ?

I have a torana switch for my "Ken's Wiper Conversion Kit".

What sort of switch would you use on the column? The only thing I could think of would be the old "bolt-on" indicator switch. With a little modification it could be adapted. There's no reason it couldn't be done, the wiring may need to be extended though.

I was going to try one off a datsun 1200 or something like that .
I have an LC torana that is on its way to the tip , will rob the switch out of it before it gets squashed.

Use an FC headlight switch for the wipers via a relay so the instrument panel knobs look the same.

The headlight switch for wipers has actually been done to my wagon. The torana switch works just as well and is probably less hassle to set-up. Just don't try to get rid of the little vacuum squirter mechanism, been there done that  ::). You will need to cut a little of the hex shaped stalk to get the knob (with grub screw) to sit flat on the dash though, measure twice, cut once.
