Title: ONE rule for all? Moderators to Moderate??
Post by: 4hammers on October 31, 2005, 03:34:04 AM
Hi.
Why is it, that there are long term members on this site, who are free to post photos off ANYTHING & it is OK, but a new guy, comes along, asks some questions about the Grey motor, & the self designated model Nazi jumps in & reads the riot act? I am not having a go at the long time members for posting that stuff, it is interesting & a nice change. This kid had NOT posted anything I found "Model Offensive". The questions posted had a relevence to our model vehicles, where as there are photos & topics of cars that are not even Holden? Again, don't get me wrong guys (to the fellas who post these, I love them....cars that is :-/).
Maybe make sure that if there is ANYTHING not FE or FC in a particular post or link, that there are clear & explicit warnings so the delicate among us wont get hurt.
All things in moderation?

What I also propose is that if ANY telling off is to be done, it is to be done by the powers that be. If this rule isn't followed, the offending "Backyard Moderator" gets a warning & then if it continues, gets a ban. This needs to be enforced.

Edited by Stinky, sorry Rob, but that last bit was just bait

This has always been a can of worms and will continue to be. There is no sense in baiting/name-calling/argueing etc, etc. Nobody is going to change my or anybody else's opinion on a topic by having a go, on the contrary it would probably strengthen our resolve.

We are all proud and passionate about the forum, let's not see it decline.

As to the rules, moderators to moderate and I think Gurus are entitled to lend a hand with supportive/informative posts and nowadays they can hit the REPORT button to highlight probs to moderators. I did this myself before being appointed a mod, I don't like deleting stuff or telling people off, but I like it even less when a thread degenerates to a name-calling session.

As to other old holden stuff, there is a place for most of this on the board. I'd be stuffed with the build-up of my FE if everything was strictly FE/FC. HR Column, Front End and Diff, Torana Brakes, FB/EK Seat surrounds, HK Rims, HZ Motor and Gearbox, LSD diff, electric wiper, DIY wiring kit etc, etc. So people picking their section/topic and post wording carefully can all get along in harmony  8)

Bottom line as I keep saying
Think (read) twice, post once.
Nowadays it's done for you with the preview.
