The Nasco options aren't anything particularly special, but it's an unusual colour combination.  I don't believe it's a '56 FE though, just the same.

Still, nice to see another FE turn up in WA.  They seem very thin on the ground over there compared to FCs.

cheers

It's the same colour as mine - built May '57. I've e-mailed the seller and confirmed this with the information on the ID plate (from the WA one).

The trim codes are as follows:

Trim: 234-474 (Granite Grey over Sky Grey)
Paint: 253-7693 - Sky Grey (Duco), 1956
         253-7700 - Granite Grey

The interior trim is grey and white (on the seats).

Col,

The original sales brochures show colour-coded columns for all sedan models (even standard and business), but the wagon and ute/van brochure show them as black.  I'm not exactly sure when the colour-coded steering column was deleted, but it is certainly a feature of 1956 FEs, as is different trim on the rear window.  1956 FE-225s have trim that look like this:

Later FEs have the thicker, wider trim also seen on FCs.  This was changed at around SA body #20,000, which would be roughly Jan/Feb 1957.  Someone else (ie Ken) might know exactly when the changeover occurred.

cheers

Ret,
it appear's my 56 may have had a rear window change then at sometime as it's the thick type trim.that's a bit of knowledge for me as i didn't know about the thin trim, anyway.

I also asked for the ID plate details.   The body number is 20084 A which places it around late March / early April '57.
The parts book indicates the rear window mould changed at the following body numbers
20620 A,   1672 M,  11234 S
This means the change occured just after this time.

Basically there were reported field problems of rear windows falling out and the thicker trim was introduced as a fix.  I think the problem really stemmed from the inherant weakness of the 1956 FE rear body structure.  The later "body fixes" introduced in late April 1957 seem proof of this.
