Title: HR Brakes
Post by: cruiser056 on September 21, 2005, 07:04:07 AM
Hi all,
I 've got a HR front and rear end in my FE with new brakes all round.  Also a newly reco'd brake booster.

The problem is when the engine is running the brakes hold on, but when the engine is off the brakes are off.  Obviously a booster problem, but can anyone shed some light on my problem, please?

Michael

Michael,
Are you using a disc brake type master and/or have you removed the non return valve from the old master cylinder?
If not, that could cause your problem.

Leigh,
I believe it is the same master cylinder that was on the car when it had the drum brakes.  How do you remove the non return valve?

you remove master cylinder and pull it apart ,in bottom there is a  thin washer take this out and put cylinder back together(would be a good time to put new rubber kit in)and bobs your uncle "working brakes"

Nicko & Leigh
I pulled the master cylinder apart and removed the part you suggested, problem solved.  The master cylinder looks as though it was reco'd not long ago everything inside looked like new.

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated.
