Title: Mag (Mad?) Cap Idea
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 20, 2005, 07:26:18 AM
Got to thinking about some caps for the ROH mags on the wagon. Called a few Tyre places and they have chromed plastic caps ranging from $10 to $20 each. Thinking back to my days as a storeman in a hotel supplies business, there are these spun aluminium things called pudding or dariol moulds, Perfect!
Dropped by the local kitchen supplies shop and picked up a set of 4 for $7.
Just gotta work out how to attach them  :-/ , push through looks possible, pics when (if) finished.

Have you come up with a Tasman cap yet?

Hi Guys.
Stinky, if you get in the baking mood before you use them, I have a WICKED Creme` caramel` recipe. Gotta have the dariol mould for them!! ;D ;D

Seriously though, speaking of Tasman caps. A mate of mine used a set of the "H" hubcap medallions of mine, to make up some caps for his mags. They look great & factory optioned with those medallions on them. Very cool.

The tasman caps are almost complete, the project stalled when the wheel place dicked me around. So the caps are just waiting for the day they get a polish and a sticker made for them.

The dariol moulds

In a HK rim, they push up inside and look like they were made for it.

ROH Mag without

ROH Mag with, these are just placed there, I have yet to work out how to attach. I might need to go bigger and work out some push through system.

Hi Stinky,
nice caps!

perhaps a rubber bung in the middle could help you squeeze them onto the rim?

Cheers

Ya gotta love enginuety , Awesome.

I once used Corvette tail light lenses in a HQ monaro ,The best thing I could find to make up some buckets were dunny brush holders - actually not unlike the shape of the Dariol moulds just larger.....

Thanks for the info.

I should make it clear that the size is 67 x 56 mm.

Alex, I just have a stiched mop on my bench grinder that suits most of the stuff I need to polish. You can pickup kit from hardware stores.
