Title: Trader Rating
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on April 24, 2005, 11:07:51 AM
Browsing a few forums, I found calaisturbo.com. The interesting part about this forum is a trader rating much like eBay's system but for forum users.

http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/traderratings.php?u=6464

You would need the specific forum software to take advantage though.

Sorry if I open a can of worms RET, just thought it was an interesting forum addition.

this would be good, helps us not get stung and keeps the traders honest, it works dam good on ebay, I recieved a item in two days last week from US, I dont know how they do it.
I remember when I first got my FE when I was 18, I had $1000 to get it on the road, it all went on a couple of over priced bits and peices I could have got now for $100 and the car never made it to the road.

I didn't ignore this, but it's not something built into YaBB.  A quick search of the YaBB development site doesn't suggest there is a plug-in for it either.

So, who's putting up their hand to program it? :-/

I put a post on the YaBB users forum (which uses YaBB, unsurprisingly) to see if such a thing had been looked into or done by other users.  A week later, no responses ($2).

I also trawled around for references to traderrating.php, the program being used to manage this aspect of the calaisturbo site, and came across this ($2), which gave me pause for thought.

It seems to me that unless the sales of parts are being managed through something other than discussion board threads (ie some sort of classifieds management software), then any rating system is way too open to abuse, or at the very least too unreliable to be of any use.

Now, if club members feel strongly that such an enhancement would be of value here, then have your say on the Club Discussion Board ($2).

cheers
