Title: Torque's Ek resto
Post by: TorqueFC on March 27, 2005, 07:58:59 AM
OK guys here it is
my ek was oficially towed away  :'(  :'(
so we are getting workin on the grey ek
its a bit of work and is taking me a lot of work
here it is ok i am the one that took the diif housing back to baremetal, im the one that took the front end and components to baremetal, im the one that sander all of the engine bay to baremetal and im the one who took the underside of the floor back to baremetal
dont forget that i took most of the car back to baremetal, and it just isnt this ek, same as on the ute, i was there for ages sanding the quarters to baremetal  while he was inside sleeping
now there has to be some rights for me so when we sell the car i get something out of it
....im only joking but i am doing most of the work but i guess its mostly experience and when i finally get another car whatever it may be i will get it 100% accurate
i will popst some pics asap as tomorow i will be stuck under it finishing off the floor....lol....

anywayz we have picked the colour and have already done the roof
one thing when i post some pics you will see there is one spot where you can see that we put a flor pan in and we are wondering if they will pic on it for the roadworthy, the floor has been welded very well but its bloody rarespares fault for not having the right sized parts

hopefully we can get some help with the folowing things
the floor section underside where it sticks out will they pick on it?
what brakes stock or upgrade?
diff change to hr pr stock?
with the motor we definately want to put a really really lumpy cam in it but dont know where to get one, can anyone help????
and the appropriate exhaust size and where to get some extracors from
thanks
Torque
ps:the pictures are on the way

Hey TorqueFC, some contructive criticism here - learn how to use the crop function on you picture editor, it will help you cut out all the white crap people don't really want to see.

Here's one I prepared earlier (resized too).
You should be able to modify your shot and re-upload them without destroying the links.

Torque,
What are your plans for this vehicle?  Is it going to be a stock or modified?  It would look good about a half inch from the ground to the lowest point!!!!    EK is a great model, good luck with the build

Post by: TorqueFC on March 31, 2005, 08:56:13 PM
hey tayz

we would love to modify it to the max, but we aint gonna as the fc already owes us tons, all we were gonna do was detail underbody, and the engine bay, then paint up all the motor custom colors, then get some stockys modified eg: get the rear rims modified out to 7 or 8 inch and up to 15 inch, then have the front rims shortend an inch and go out to 15 inch, the last thing to do: dump it 2 the ground

Good to see a young bloke into Old Holdens instead of "2 fast 2 furious" type cars.

Cheers Geoff

today brought out some new ideas, the body colour is about to change to a custom color of which we already have here. actually its a long story about that paint, we had it custom made for our first ek resto, the we ended up taking that one to the tip, then it was for the flash on the fb, then that changed to being the ute color, and then it was goin on the hr, but then we changed our minds again. anywayz weather was so shit today we just cleaned up alot, tools needed sawting and sand needed sifting. over the weekend the i have sandblasted almost the whole engine bay and underneath up to the subframe area, when the weather changes this week it will be finished off. the engine bay will either be the body color:rasberry pearl, or a silver or gumb metal grey, as well as the undercarriege being gumb metal grey.

just updating the progress,  (probably hard to understand as im in a hurry)

cheers

Torque,
just cut out the b$%&^&*(^t and rstore it to original like it should be, pastel paint colours, it will look a million dollars.  You need to make up your mind period what you want this car to be.  Remember it is 1962 and make it look how it is meant to.  Forget about polls and what so forth and make it original to the specs that YOU WANT.  I am not being picky but you need to make up your mind young fella,
                                                   TAYZ

Title: Re: Torque's Ek resto
Post by: TorqueFC on April 04, 2005, 09:41:37 AM
yes tayz i agree with you

but we were goin to do everything completely original, but then we had the discussion that the motor would be very worked, and that the interior we have wont be really original so came to reality and said tat we didnt want this car to be that original, and we didnt want it like everyone elses cars, this is why we wanted the custom colors, and now more discussion we have had about wiring. previosly someone had chopped wiring up and there were about 6 dead ends, so we have decided to re wire the car, and also hide the wiring while we are at it.

the only reason why we wanted the undercarraige painted another color than black was because i have/will be putting much work and detail into it

cheers
torque

ps:does anyone know the streetlegal height that we are aloud to lower the ek to in Victoria?

Torque,
4 Inches from the lowest point and the car must be same height all the way through.

Relax, Chicky.
Whoever "Nutbags" is, obviously registered just to put the poll up. Torque has been making a welter of his posting rights & I think if he asks sensible questions & doesn't go overboard, that is fine. DON'T come on here starting a fight with Nutbags, don't take the bait (I speak from experience) & lastly of all, watch your language, as my boy sits here with me looking at the site.
Torque has been a member since mid Jan this year & already has nearly 200 posts. Say about 50 days as a member? How much does that make? 4 posts per day! People are bound to get a little tired.
(No offence intended, Darcy).

Just relax & if you joined just to stick up for him, make an effort & post some car stuff to do with FE & FC.

Darcey,

Have you visited the FB EK forum?

May I suggest it?

I'm sure they shall appreciate your fascinating insights and your informative dialogues on your fleet of truly magnificent FB and EK Holdens.

You could continue all your posts there!

Wouldn't that be fun?

Well put Eddie    ,  but don't forget , there's a "select group of Smart A**** on this site who show no respect , and they know who they are ?"

 Just a "little" help ...

(Other FB/EK owners on this site , Please do not take offence, but this is getting "a bit much" and I don't bother logging on here as often now.)

OK, time to step in before things get out of hand.

nutbags account and his/her poll have both been deleted.

torquefc: the tribe has spoken, mate.  Keep it FE/FC related, and write it in English.  If you haven't got time to type posts with reasonable grammar and spelling, don't bother posting.  Save your comments until you have got the time.  You're getting no respect here because you're showing no respect for others.  This may be a by-product of your age, but it's not ageism from the rest of us.  We've got other youngsters who use this forum, and all are welcome providing they do the right thing.  The occasional pic of non-FE/FC stuff is OK.  Ridiculously long threads like this are not.  There's an FB/EK forum where I'm sure your efforts on this car will be better appreciated.

You should consider this your final warning.  If you continue posting off-topic stuff and/or gibberish, you'll be barred.  I won't have long-standing members with hard-earned 'guru' status getting cheesed off with this forum because you can't be bothered to play by the rules.

Hey you guys don't you think you are a bit hard on Torquefc. What I understand is that he is only 16yrs old. How many times has he got to apologise. What I understand is that he realy enjoys working with his dad on their cars. I great enjoyment when Ben, Josh and I work together on our cars. So what if it is an EK it is still a holden. Don't do this to Torquefc let him enjoy his cars and this sight. Torquefc keep enjoying what you do Personly I think the FB and EKs are great looking cars.

Torque's OK, he's still learning about the forum though, I think most other teenagers would have "spat-it" by now at some of the comments and digs that have been made. He's taken other comments in his stride, I am sure he'll abide by the warning.
The issue has probably looked worse than it is due to the slower traffic after the nationals, when every man and his dog seemed to have a car being rebuilt for Jindabyne.
There has been nobody discouraging him from working on old cars, he's pretty lucky to be able to do so at his age.
Hopefully one he'll "do the right thing" one day and get an FE/FC  ;D

Torque
If your only 16 as I have read than this is great to see you so keen on the best motor car ever built (48 to HT Holden). Mate I think you have a lot going for you and seem to be pretty well up on the subject. You have stated in other posts how great this forum is, It's become that way over a very long period of time a lot of effort from forum user's shareing information and helping each other out. This could also happen with the FB/EK site and I think that you could be a big part of it, there are grown me out there that don't know 1/2 of what you have posted here and they are trying to restore a car as well. Your age could allow you to start building and watch it grow with time, dont take this as a well worded good bye as I think you have a bit to offer this site as well. Your young so take all that has happened over the past few weeks and learn from it. Give some serious thought to my suggestion of the FB/EK site and helping it develope into a site like this one, But do stick around here as well, as you never know we may just convert you to FE/FC. ;D

Cheers
Sarge
