Title: Moulded Carpets
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on January 28, 2005, 09:02:11 AM
Would moulded carpets that suit an FB/EK automatic floor fit an FE floor that has a Rod Shop trans tunnel installed?
If it's too big in the tunnel area, could it be cut and shut?

v6 conversions recommend a EK auto carpet after a larger tunnel has been fitted.  Cant imagine it would be any different for CRS tunnels.

Hope it helps.

cheers

Stinky,
I've recently fitted a moulded carpet to my car. FE sedan with standard floor. There was a couple of inches of spare carpet which had to be trimmed from either side after fitting. I would presume you would get the same  whichever carpet you fitted, allowing you more freedom to get a proper fit.

Thanks for the replies fellas, with a reply on another forum to back it up, looks like I'll go for an FB/EK automatic carpet. Having the shifter mounted on the trans tunnel will allow me to hide any mods if they are necessary.

just to add to the other comments..
stinky..you can re-shape the moulded carpets fairly easily yourself using a hair dryer or hot-air gun.
get the back of the carpet very hot..almost too hot to touch..then push it to the floor shape...small sand bags on the heated area is the ideal way of holding it to the required shape..it sets fairly quickly..may still need cutting but could give more scope on where you cut it
good luck
cheers trev

Sounds like a good tip Trev, I'll give it a go on my next carpet.
