Title: Head
Post by: fccool59 on November 16, 2004, 09:14:44 AM
what head is best to use for more go, I was thinking black.
I have a red head that is as shaved and ported as possible but want to go better, I was thinking a twelve port. would this be much advantage if any?

Depends on your induction system, a 12 port is really good for triples and EFI systems. If you are running a single carb, as far as I know, you get no real advantage from a 12 port.
The head on my 202 has had the head bolt studs cut out of the inlet ports and recessed. You then bolt the head in the port itself, then tap and block the top of the block with a short bolt or grub screw. This opens the ports right up.
You don't want to go too big in the valves as this slows the air speed and you lose torque.
