Title: Bargain ;-) Post by: craiga on October 30, 2004, 12:52:52 AM Check this out http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32057&item=2495825927&rd=1&tc=photo
Cannot believe someone is prepared to pay over $300.00 for a piece of pressed aluminium. F*&ken UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: robbzfc58 on October 30, 2004, 02:25:29 AM craig its the buyers again....the starting price was fine.
ya gotta admit..ebay can be very useful if youre selling ;) ??? cheers trev Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: RET on October 30, 2004, 02:28:01 AM Part number M31957. Price when new: 1/3/6. That equates to $2.35. By my reckoning, an inflation rate like that makes my Manual Air-Chief (45 Guineas when new, or $94.50) worth $12,305.10, and my Nasco Warmaride heater (24/15/0, or $49.50) worth $6,445.53.
Neither of them are NOS, so any offer over $2000 for either of them will be considered ;D The bloke in Vic who makes the repro Nasco Filguards could probably do a line in these. Obviously there's enough demand in the market if this one started at $19.99 and is now at $306.00. It's little wonder Ebay is killing swap meets if there are people willing to shell out crazy ducats like that. cheers RET Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: craiga on October 30, 2004, 02:29:19 AM Trev,
You're right, great if your the seller. I'm out in the garage right now with an old Coke can and a small hammer trying to make a number plate frame with a Holden script on it. What a gold mine!!! And by the way RET, I have an automatic AWA radio. ALLLLLLRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIGHT. :o :o :o :o By your reckoning I'm going to sell it on eBay and buy Rawanda. Always wanted to own a small African country. Gotta love a nude black african :-X Craig. Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: oldgmh on October 30, 2004, 03:04:49 AM absolutely unf###ingbelievable. I am going to run out and check the frames on all my cars... and the neighbours!
Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: doug on October 30, 2004, 03:28:19 AM Hey all
I wonder how many more of these will come out of the woodwork now..... Looks like over $300 might be a bit consevative, I'd put money on it breaking $400!! Catch you all later! Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: RET on October 30, 2004, 04:29:38 AM I've just realised that 1/3/6 is the price per pair. So that makes my Air-Chief and Warmaride worth double the price I previously quoted. So $2,000 each is a bargain.
Especially now that the license plate is at $370 (4.30pm) and still has a couple of hours to run. cheers RET Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: Emu on October 30, 2004, 04:37:09 AM Hey Craig,
I gotta say..... this thread is the most amusing I have read for a while!!! We started out discussing alloy number plate surrounds and you took us to a small African state to perv on naked tribeswomen :o That's GOLD!! Good work Mate. Luv it. Emu Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: craiga on October 30, 2004, 04:40:43 AM Quote I've just realised that 1/3/6 is the price per pair. So that makes my Air-Chief and Warmaride worth double the price I previously quoted. So $2,000 each is a bargain. OK, so Rawanda is gone, as my radio has also doubled in price. Now I'm looking at Somalia. Lots of guns I know, but even more nude black africans. WOOOOHOOOOOOO. And Emu, you're welcome for holidays anytime. Do you own a gun? Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: Emu on October 30, 2004, 04:47:40 AM Nice suggestion Craig,
but as a large, flightless bird..... the thought of a country filled with black dudes with spears is a little disconcerting! :o I don't wanna get eaten..... at least not in that context! ;D Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: RET on October 30, 2004, 04:50:03 AM You don't want Rwanda. Rwanda is way too f-ed up, and Somalia is not much better. Now Burundi, on the other hand.... ;)
havagoodweegend, especially if you find a NOS plate frame kicking around your parts bin... Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: craiga on October 30, 2004, 04:53:39 AM Thanks RET, sounds like good advice. But do Burundians wear clothes ;D
And for Emu, are large flightless birds a delicacy there? Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: -KIWI- on October 30, 2004, 05:15:44 AM emu ewe better not visit nz then i got heaps of bros runnin around with spears just waiting to hangi yer feathery butt ;D

Ignore Kiwi...... Emus are a delicacy... Everywhere!!! P.S. I think we're O/T Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: -KIWI- on October 30, 2004, 05:22:23 AM yeah whatever rubber skin emu boid!!!!!

Your timing's impeccable. NSW Club meeting on the 9th, club run prolly 21st or 28th. Oh, and there's 15 minutes before that auction closes, and it's cracked $400. Unbelievable. Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: -KIWI- on October 30, 2004, 05:33:04 AM cant ya have a special meeting just for me for those that didnt get the chance to beat the kiwi up last time ??????? ;D ;D ;D
and another chance for craig a and johnrap to cruize down the main st of cronulla and yell for baaaaaaaabarara to come to them :-* :-* :D :D Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: RET on October 30, 2004, 05:47:10 AM Kiwi: If you want to come around my place I suppose I could find time to beat you up ::)
The auction for that thing has just ended at $400.70 WTF? Mind you, a bit of a cruise through the winner's (in every sense of the word) previously won items suggests he doesn't mind slappin' down the bling bling when it comes to stuff he wants: EH Radio blanking plate: $212 (link ($2)) Could they possibly be worth that much? Surely most EHs came with one of these, since radios were accessories? Mine certainly did, and I didn't pay $400 for the whole car.... EH Bonnet Strip: $189.50 (link ($2)) Dunno, but you never see die-cast FE/FC stuff for that sort of money. "A fool and his money are soon partying..." cheers RET Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: robbzfc58 on October 30, 2004, 07:49:17 AM these could be a new hot item for FRA1230 to buy up big on . he could stash them with his clock collection......
wonder what i'd get for the fc if i dismanted it & flogged it on ebay ??? cheers trev Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: Emu on October 30, 2004, 08:04:22 AM Trev,
There's little doubt that your FC is worth more broken up n sold 4 bits. Unfortunately some people have realised this and make a living off it. Thankfully, that's not what most of us r about. I felt guilty having a donor vehicle for "Hilda". Thank God for Sarge who has grabbed the donor and is going the full resto! He has given my conscience a break. Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: HAD 708 on November 01, 2004, 04:59:10 AM Pretty amazing heh!!! Though if people will pay it??!!! Craig look forward to your postcards from your small African nation and regular photo shop!!!
Brett Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: Hewart on November 01, 2004, 10:37:03 AM I happen to have (or had rather) one of these number plate frames on my FC – the Mrs thinks I should sell it now ::)
I guess Doug was right about it cracking the 400 mark... good call! And RET, not sure if the second one in the set would be worth as much (Quote: Part number M31957. Price when new: 1/3/6 per set) as it doesn't have the "Holden" scrit on it... just plain, but you never know ;) A couple of months ago when I returned to my FC (which I park at the train station some days) my number plate was almost busted off. Some pr!ck had decided to jump on my number plate, bending it and almost snapping it off. At first I though it was a F@rd nutter or some skate board riders. Someone else suggested someone was trying to nick my original plates – I doubt it though. It was also suggested they might have wanted the metal club badge – the bracket of which is the only thing that saved my number plate etc – also highly unlikely... who would nick a club badge? Maybe it was the number plate frame they were after... Certainly wasn't NOS, but it has a couple more dents in it now :-/ I still reckon it was just someone being bored and stupid, but you never know..... interesting auction though! I like how the seller called it "the Holy grail item". Unbelievable price!! Cheers Les.... Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: customFC on November 01, 2004, 11:42:26 AM More money than sense.
I had a brand new pair that I fitted to my blue and white FC. Still have the Nasco packet they came in. If I could find the plate frames, I might be able to find the car. Yes they were stolen along with the FC. FWIW, I paid $20 at a swap for 'em. Regards Alex Title: Re: Bargain ;-) Post by: doug on November 02, 2004, 09:55:39 AM Oh well, something else to keep an eye out for at the swap meets........
8) 8) ;) ;) |
