I was having a quiet picnic with the family when a Pontiac GTO pulled up in our little carpark. For once i had a camera and the guy said no worries when i asked if i could take a photo. As it turned out the young guy worked for Holden and was taking it for a Sunday drive to get the K's up before it ends up on a used car lot in the states. He told me this is not even in the states yet and has the new 6.0L V8.He was very friendly and while he was looking at my ute ,told me he used to drive to Uni in a Grey Fc Standard sedan. As he drove off,the note out of the twin exhaust sounded soooo much better than a Monaro.

Cheers Geoff

Seems like they have a few on the road, I saw a red one on the Monash Freeway last Tuesday and a blue one near Huntingdale station on Saturday. Both LHD GTOs with large dual exhausts - sound great!

Hi Guys.

Yes there are quite a few around.

There was a black one on display at the Monaros at Bathurst weekend, in early September.

Would it be possible to buy 1 of these from the general in export format, i.e. left hand drive.  ???

It is obviously possible to get Australian rego, so I would assume you could drive it on NSW roads  ???

Just wondering...........

Cool pics.
Would be cool to drive this in Aus.

Hi Guys.

In most states it is not possible to normally register LHD cars that are less than 30 years old.

The car manufacturers (eg Holden) get special dispensation for the testing of prototypes.

Another problem also emerges, the Pontiac at Bathurst had funny looking headlights that didn't quite fit properly, but were obviously factory. When I asked the driver (a Holden employee), his reply was that they had to fit Australian Monaro RHD headlights to be allowed to drive the car to Bathurst. The Pontiac front bar protrudes further & this left gaps between the headlight & bar.

For those who didn't know LHD headlights dip to the right on low beam & RHD headlights dip to the left so as not to glare oncoming traffic.
