Title: Speedo Cable
Post by: JimmyMac on October 04, 2004, 01:45:07 AM
I am having a real problem removing the speedo cable from my FC.  Donor car one came out easily from the top end.  The one in the car is jammed in some way at the gearbox end?

Can you undo the 1 1/4" nut, if you can get at it, without drama and does this free it up to be removed?  Is there a collar on the gearbox end of the original cables?

I have checked the speedo itself and it works OK.  I think the gearbox end is the issue.

Anyone with any experience with this sort of hassle?

Jim ???

Cable is probably twisted in the shaft, there is a collar on the speedo cable at the gearbox end.  Nothing to do other than pull hard on the cable - it should come out eventually.
It could be helpful to remove the speedo drive if you can get it undone.
